Ohgushi, S.Tamai, Bioceramics 5: 459-464,1993(Kobunshi Kankokai, Inc.:Editors, T.Yamamuro, T.Kokubo and T.Nakamura) Acknowledgments We thank Kyocera Co. Kyoto, Japan for providing the alumina ceramics. This work was supported by Three-Dimensional Tissue Module Project, METI (A Millenium Project). Fig. 3 Human MSCs culture on artificial ankle prosthesis made by alumina ceramics. The MSCs obtained from 65 years patient were loaded on the ceramic prosthesis and subcultured in the presence of vitamin C, glycerophosphate and dexamethason (left figure). The subcultured cells on the prosthessi was then subjected for ALP stain (right figure). The red color indicates the ALP positive areas. Note that about 80% surface area is covered with ALP positive stain.
