Dynamic Material Application for Architectural Purposes
  Abstract

In this research the possibilities of the realization of an interactive architecture with the use of dynamic materials is examined. The reason for the use of dynamic materials can be found in the urge to implement material innovation technologies in an architectural context. An inventory of different actuators is made, used for the deformation of the design concept. Shape memory alloys are the most suitable actuators for this application, even though a lot of disadvantages are found. Experiments should point out the possibilities of the application of Shape Memory Alloys.
