| Abstract | Polyacrylamide hydrogel(PAMG)has been used in plastic and aesthetic surgery for years. But its safety is still in doubt in many countries. In this paper, we, using normal human fibroblasts, determined their biological reaction to the extracts of PAMG by cell counting, MTT assay, and flow cytometry (FCM). Results indicate that PAMG inhibits the growth of human fibroblasts compared with the control, and induces slightly the apoptosis of cells, which may be one of the reasons for the difference of cell proliferation between them. It also has evident effects on the size and granularity of the cells, which demonstrates that FCM is a useful technology to investigate the effects of biomaterials on cells in detail. |
