Abstract: The paper presents the ability of the piezoelectric devices to capture the environmental vibrations, in order to generate electric power for supplying electronic small portable devices. Theoretical and experimental investigations were performed, both for stack and cantilever beam configuration of the piezoelectric devices, with good agreement between results. An improved mechanical architecture is proposed.

Abstract: This work numerically explores the relations between the positions and the widths of the frequency bandgaps that occur in some shielded high impedance surfaces and the geometrical dimensions of the structures. The reported parameterized results are useful for design issues and for circuit models conception and validation.

Abstract: The nucleotide imbalance, the nucleotide pair imbalance and the nucleotide path of mitochondrial Nucleotide Genomic Signals (mtNuGSs) for several taxa have been analyzed comparatively. Evolutionary changes of conservative segments, as well as individual mutations of hyper-variable segments have been identified. An innovative technique, based on reference-offset representation of sets of related signals has been used throughout the study.

Abstract: The paper deals with a novel method suitable for modelling of surface induction hardening and other tasks, where the problem of discretisation of very thin eddy-currents surface layer is present. The method is based on artificial change of material parameters in the computer model. A methodology is suggested and limitations of its application are thoroughly tested. Odds and merits over other possible methods are also discussed.

Abstract: Unlike the protection systems with electromechanical action protection, the fuses have the advantage of sure protection. Designing fuses requires a high accuracy for determining the current field density and the temperatures from the fuse-elements, till they melt. In order to have zero divergent of the current density the paper employs a FEM procedure in which the electrical vector potential is implied. Special shape functions are used for holes in the case of multiply connected structure. The electric problem is coupled with thermal field one.

Abstract: In the present paper, a Transformer Design Optimization (TDO) software package is developed providing a user-friendly transformer design and visualization environment. This software consists of a collection of design optimization, visualization and verification tools, able to provide transformer designers all the proper interactive capabilities required for the enhancement of the automated design process of a manufacturing industry.
