Abstract: This paper presents the 3D molding simulation of the ellipsoid drill point based on the mathematical model, and the influence factors of the drill point’s key structure angles were searched. The quantificational relations between the key structure angles of the ellipsoid point and its molding configuration parameters were presented. Variation trend of the drill point’s structure parameters affected by it’s molding parameters are given for design and optimize the ellipsoid drill point.

Abstract: The complications that effected on key geometry parameters of the drill point had been searched in this paper by the result of 3D figuration simulation. The simulation result solved the quantificational change relations between the main structure angles of the hyperboloid drill and its figuration configuration parameters on numerical value relation. This method will give a theoretic basis and effectively optimize method for practically drill and grinding.

Abstract: A new principle and technology of point form grinding for quadratic surface flank of twist drill was investigated. It broke through the traditional straight-line generator grinding method for the conical and the spiral drills. The principle of implementation mechanism was given in the paper. The trueness and feasibility of the method had been approved in the experiments, and the quadratic surface twist drill such as hyperboloid, ellipsoid and hyperboloid-ellipsoid compound flank had been grinded on the mechanism.
