Abstract: Self-anchored suspension bridge is a self-balancing system by anchored the main cable at each end of main girder. With complicated configuration and important rule of transferring tension in main cable to main girder, the anchorage region is one of the most critical issues during designing a self-anchored suspension bridge. It is impossible to fully understand the mechanical behavior only by spatial beam and column model but spatial refined model. Because the behavior of anchorage region is greatly influenced by its boundary condition, in this paper, reasonable length of main girder in calculation model is discussed based on the spatial refined model. The mechanical behavior of initial anchorage structure is calculated. A modified anchorage configuration is proposed according to the stresses distribution of anchorage zone. Calculation results show the modified anchorage configuration can make the force transferring smoothly and decrease the stresses of anchorage structure, and it can be referenced to similar bridges.

Abstract: The concrete decks in wide box composite girder bridge carrying vehicle load directly are easy to failure. So the decks in approach bridge of Jiubao Bridge are designed to renewable component. Several deck removal plans were put forward based on the structure characteristics of the Jiubao bridge. Spatial finite element model of the bridge was set up and the responses of approach bridge under different removal plan were analyzed. The analysis results show that methods proposed in this paper about deck removal in local position or in whole span are feasible; however different whole span removal method affect the mechanical behavior of the approach bridge heavily.

Abstract: Connectors are the key element in steel and concrete composite structure. To research and develop new type connector for steel and concrete composite structure, a new type connector, corrugated rib connector, was developed. The base mechanical properties of this connector were tested by push-out tests. The test results shown the mechanical properties of this connector are excellent. Comparing to the push-out test results of perfobond rib connector, the shear strength of corrugated rib connector increased 24 percent than that of the perfobond rib connector, and the shear stiffness of corrugated rib connector is larger than that of the perfobond rib connector, Especially the ductility of corrugated rib connector is 1.9 times that of the perfobond rib connector when they reach the ultimate load. Based on the load-slip relation of corrugated rib connector by push-out tests, relative stiffness expressions under normal service state and ultimate bearing capacity state are obtained.
