Abstract: Aimed at building up the virtual assembly for the mechanical system for applications in workshop, with fundamental component lib made by PRO/E modules. Principle of the virtual assembly on PRO/E and topological relationship was put forward and employed for the system as the base. Detailed constraint relations and topological relation were researched in Cartesian coordinate system for guiding wheel consisting of eleven main components. Virtual testing for the assembly quality was provided with the tolerance and fit features of the mating surfaces.

Abstract: Based on the analysis of feature parameters for the screw, presented the uniformed mode of the spiral surface with variable pitch and variable diameter, discussed in detail the formation of it with four-axis linkages of the machine. The major parts of the processing system was designed. CAPP of the spiral surface in special milling operation was put forward and successfully realized in the workshop, taking the operation of a screw head as an example, for premium quality.

Abstract: Based on parametric techniques, feature techniques, and feature-based parametric modeling techniques, the system of the parametric feature modeling techniques family and its modeling method were put forward to realize rapid and efficient modeling. The technical term of family table, the steps and characteristics of family table modeling were proposed firstly. Then, Pro/program and its application in the parametric modeling of mechanical products were discussed in detail, and a feature-based parametric prototype was developed by UDF. Finally, a running example of feature-prototype for spur gears was given to demonstrate the validity and efficiency of the feature-based parametric modeling techniques family.

Abstract: Based on the body element and topological features, studied and built up the fundamental system of feature-description of digital design and manufacturing for the typical shaft-like components, systematically researched and set up content tree of the feature description, two core sub-systems of spatial relationships of geometric elements orientated to the digital design and presentation of processing operation features faced to the digital manufacturing, followed by comprehensive-parameter method for the description of surface characteristics of the component. An example, supporting axis, from Quanhai Machinery Development Co. Ltd., was given for considerations taken in utilization of the feature-description system for the digital design and manufacturing. It is hoped that the current study and the construction of the system may lay the foundation for the unification of CAD/CAPP/CAM.

Abstract: Vibratory cutting is one of the newly developed machining techniques and theories in recent years. Insight into the machining mechanism and the chip formation process in metal vibratory cutting has yet to be carried out for this technique to be used widely and efficiently. But with conventional investigation, it is much difficult, and time and energy consuming to analyze and study such principles quantitatively. A system of the computer simulation has been established and based on FEM the chip formation process was emulated. The cutting forces and temperature distribution were imitated under condition of a variety of vibratory frequencies and turning engagements. ANSYS is utilized for the quantitative analysis. Contrast and comparison experiments between vibratory and the conventional metal machining are done, revealing a good agreement between the simulation and the experiment and the inborn nature and the principles of the vibratory metal cutting.
