Abstract: Abstract. In today’s automotive market with intense competition, car styling preferences directly affect designer’s design outcome. At the meantime, there are various types of car styles, however users’ emotional evaluations of them are messy. Thus establishing a perceptual extraction model of vehicles is necessary. Under common circumstances, we quantify the emotional human perceptual through digitized human perceptual data obtained by questionnaires. However, it is emotional and thus difficult to analyze. In order to analyze perceptual data, the general method is statistical methods, such as factor analysis system. However, the use of statistical methods alone is not sufficient to handle the emotional data, because this method cannot handle non-linear intrinsic emotional data. This paper will discuss the using of fuzzy rules and through inductive data analysis to extract a common perceptual model of consumers’ emotional tendencies towards vehicles. In this paper, methods of variance predicted generalized regression neural network (VP-GRNN) and fuzzy adaptive resonance theory (fuzzy ART) were used to build a common perceptual model.

Abstract: The user's preferences and views make a profound impaction on the public acceptance of the product. Both can be expressed through the study of product semantic. This article describes the application of semantic differential method to establishment and analysis the laptop bag products semantic space. Through the collection of 60 subjects’ evaluation of 8 laptop bags, the semantic universe is reduced to a collection of 25 adjectives semantic by using of semantic differential method. Semantic axis are defined the main component factor. The influence of subjects’ number in the semantic evaluation results is also studied. The establishment of the semantic space is the first step for introducing emotional performance in products design and interaction, which would increase the success probability of products. This statistical measurement help make decisions in terms of design expression.

Abstract: Based on users’ kansei image and kansei engineering theory, a method on product bionics form design is presented. Firstly, users’ kansei information about product and bionics objects is extracted from semantic differential method, which is the basic standard for determination of the best bionics object. Then by adopting clustering analysis and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation, the product form features and bionics objects’ main features are acquired and combined to design products. Finally, the optimal design is selected through comprehensive evaluation. As an example, case of intelligent electric rice cooker design indecates that this method is valid and practical.

Abstract: The Numerical Control (NC) machine has not yet improved its Human Machine Interface (HMI) quality, which has deep influence on the operating efficiency. Besides, the operation panel design is the lack of appropriate standards and evaluation systems. Therefore, this paper establishes an evaluation model of the visual elements of the NC machine operation panel, and it could propose a reasonable and reliable basis of operation panel design after analyzing the existing panels’ interface according to Radial Basis Function Network (RBFN) theory.
