Abstract: The instruments arrangement of human-machine interface can directly influence the operation and efficiency of human-machine interaction in system. A novel instruments arrangement optimization method based on genetic algorithm was proposed. The biology heredity and evolution mode of genetic algorithm was used to search for the optimal or satisfying arrangement solution. Fitness function was constructed based on the principles of importance, frequency of use, relevance and operational sequence. Literal permutation encoding method was applied to represent the instruments arrangement. The optimization preserving strategy was used to enhance the search speed and to enlarge the width and depth of solution space. Finally, a case of instruments arrangement optimization proves that the arrangement optimization method is effective.

Abstract: . A novel method for layout has been proposed for control panel. Six layout principles of ergonomics are taken into consideration to reduce the influences of indeterminate factors caused by the subjective judgments of designers. Optimization method and function is constructed to optimize the layout result based on genetic algorithm. And a computer-aided layout system is developed based on UG/OPEN API to realize automatic layout by computer. A detailed example of control panel layout of a thermal power plant is provided. The result shows that the efficiency and quality of layout are improved by this method.

Abstract: The quality of man-machine interface (MMI) directly affects efficiency, safety and comfort of the man-machine system. Therefore, it is significant to study an appropriate evaluation technology for MMI. The method of grey relational analysis based on interval numbers is put forward in the field of MMI evaluation in this paper, based on human thinking having the grey and fuzzy characteristic. In this method, interval numbers are employed as a mean to reflect the rating of indexes instead of real numbers, which offer uncertain information. By judging the correlative degree between the evaluation criterion and the design schemes, the optimal scheme can be found. Based on the proposed method, a novel subjective evaluation model of MMI is set up and applied in the subjective evaluation on the digital control system console of the power plant. Results of the evaluation example prove that the proposed method for MMI evaluation is reasonable and applicable.
