Abstract: This paper uses general finite element software Abaqus to simulate three Chinese traditional hall-style structures recorded in the book <<Yingzao Fashi>>. With Abaqus having an advantage in dealing with contact problems, three hall-style timber structure finite element analysis models have been established within the 3D solid element which is used to model beams, columns, brackets and other structural members in the modeling. Contact pairs also have been used to simulate the interaction between the structure members like beam-column contact pair, column-foot foundation contact pair and dougong-bracket beam contact pair and so on. In the modeling process, some simplifying assumptions have been used for many complex structural members and interactions between them being used in Chinese hall-style structure. The model was finally tested by gravity load and vertical load.

Abstract: In this paper, use the finite element analysis software ABAQUS to firstly analyze the mechanical response to simplified model of Chuan-dou type wooden structure under its own weight, followed by the analysis of the structure under horizontal reciprocating loading, and finally seismic performance analysis of the structure under earthquake. Use the same contact properties between the members, and the differences between dynamic friction coefficient and static friction coefficient are not distinguished. The results show that the wooden structure of ancient houses has good seismic performance, which is mainly achieved by the frame deformation and friction slip.

Abstract: Brackets is the ancient Chinese wooden building unique ways and one of the main features of the structure. Its dual function of both structural and architectural: An important component of both the structure itself, because of its flexible features tenon, the dynamic response of the structure can absorb greater energy, play a good role in the earthquake; But it is also a special architectural ornament, can play the effect of beautifying buildings. Therefore, this paper based on the finite element software ABAQUS brackets by the force of the mechanism of failure modes and numerical simulation analysis for the brackets and the whole structure of the wood to provide a scientific assessment and reinforcement.

Abstract: Yingxian Wood Pagoda is the highest standing ancient wood structure in China,with four shorter but stiffer storeys hidden between the five apparent storeys. The beam-colunm joints are highly varied. In this study,a model of typical beam-column joints of the pagoda was simulated in Abaqus. The material used in models was similar to the ones of the pagoda.Non-destructive cyclic loading test of the models under different vertical load were conducted.The hysteretic curves underdifferent vertical load were drawn from the test.And the skeleton curves were obtained by linking all peak moment points of each hysteretic loop. The energy –dissipation performance and bending stiffness of models were derived and discussed.

Abstract: This paper introduces the concept and design method of the base isolation structure, through the SAP2000 software to analyze 6-story reinforced concrete frame for nonlinear time-history analysis, comparison of isolated and non-isolated structure's maximum displacement, acceleration under frequent earthquake and the maximum displacement, acceleration of isolation structure under rare earthquake. The results show that the isolated structure have a much better seismic responding than the traditional structures.

Abstract: In this paper, using the universal finite element analysis software SAP2000 to build a large span cable-stayed bridge with finite element model, using a stepwise analysis finite element method to study the concrete shrinkage and creep efforts on the main beam inner force and deformation, cable tension during the cable-stayed bridge construction process and after the bridge. Research results show that the effects of shrinkage and creep in the finished bridge cannot be ignored, and the results can be used as reference for the design of similar projects.

Abstract: In this paper, taking a practical project for the study, using the finite element analysis software ANSYS, static analyses under different load conditions are performed on a single beam string structure (BSS) and a one-way beam string structure with the cooperation of the supporting structure, respectively. Moreover, influence of factors on mechanical properties of the one-way BSS with the cooperation of the supporting structure is investigated. The factors include grouting, support form, corrosion. The results can provide a reference for design and construction of the same type of structure.
