Abstract: The paper focused on the effect of tool edge preparation of indexable carbide insert on cutting temperature, force and tool wear. The initial wear experiments were carried out to measure flank wear and two criteria to evaluate the effect of tool edge preparation were proposed. The cutting temperature measurement utilized tool-work thermocouple and revealed that the cutting temperature of honed insert was lower. The cutting force measurement with a strain gauge dynamometer showed that tangential cutting force Fz, feed force Fx would be increased and radius force Fy would be decreased after tool edge preparation.

Abstract: To analyze effects of singularity on parallel manipulator, the Jacobian matrixes were introduced as the indexes for analyzing the 3UPS/S parallel machine. The relationship between the velocity Jacobian matrix and the force-transformation matrix was established, and their equivalence was verified through the determinant and condition number’ reciprocal of the matrixes. Effects of singularity on motion accuracy, actuator forces and constrained forces were investigated within the nutation angle’range. The result showed that velocity analysis and mechanical analysis were consistent for 3UPS/S parallel machine in the aspect of singularity, and proved that the accuracy and actuator force properties were deteriorated when approach to singularity. The approach could be applied to other parallel manipulators in the research on singular problem as a reference.

Abstract: An IF steel sample was cold rolled to a reduction of 80% and subsequently submitted to annealing treatment at 650°C, 710°C and 770°C for various durations, respectively. The grain size and evolution of partial texture of small, medium and large grains were investigated during grain growth. It was found that the growth rate and partial texture characteristic were absolutely distinct at different annealing temperature, both were temperature dependent. At same annealing temperature, partial texture for various annealing time was similar, but its intensity increases with an increment of duration. And the relation between partial texture of different grains assembly and its mean grain size can be expressed by an empirical formula from experiment data.
