Abstract: Orthogonal experiments of micro mill-grinding were conducted on aluminium alloy 6061. Electroplated CBN compound tools were used in machining. Surface topography and roughness of the machined workpieces were measured and analyzed. Influence rules of radial cutting depth,feed rate and spindle speed on surface roughness in micro mill-grinding were studied. The results were compared with those in micro milling. It shows that the influence rules of processing parameters on surface roughness in micro mill-grinding are approximately same with those in micro milling. And in the same processing conditions, the surface roughness of micro mill-grinding is better than that of micro milling. The minimum value of surface roughness Ra of micro mill-grinding is 0.609μm in the experiments.

Abstract: There is a vitrified bond CBN point grinding wheel with coarse grinding area slope angle θ. This new grinding wheel has higher removing rate and better machining accuracy than conventional wheels. The design and manufacture principle of the new grinding wheels are studied in this paper. These wheels with different coarse grinding area slope angle θ are used to grind the stepped shaft of QT700 with a series of grinding parameters.VHX-1000E microscopic system and Micromeasure system are used to measure the surface quality of workpiece. In the same group of grinding parameters, compare the effect of these different wheels on surface roughness. The effect of deflection angle α on surface roughness is generalized.

Abstract: The cutting edge radius Re leads to the minimum uncut chip thickness in micro machining. The single-edge single-grit model was developed for micro mill-grinding in this paper. Simulations for Ti6Al4V were performed in various cutting depths, and the minimum uncut chip thickness of micro mill-grinding was confirmed to be between 0.25Re and 0.3Re (approximate 0.275Re). Various grain heights of protrusion were investigated to discuss the influence of grain depths of cut on the minimum uncut chip thickness. The minimum uncut chip thickness will increase if the grinding debris forms, while it will get smaller if the grinding debris cant be generated.

Abstract: Micro mechanical processing is the effective method for machining micro scale parts. Micro mill-grinding technology is presented based on micro milling and micro grinding processes. The machining principle of micro mill-grinding is studied, and compound tools for micro mill-grinding are fabricated based on spraying technology. Experiments are performed on Al 6061-T6 with the three-dimensional micro machining system. The results show that submicron surface roughness can be obtained by micro mill-grinding. Abrasive grains of mill-grinding tools fabricated by spraying method shed easily. Smaller abrasive particle size improves the surface quality and increases the tool life.

Abstract: This paper presents a new type of two 2-DOF Parallel 2PRR institution, with the unique advantages such as simple motion modeling and easy calculation of the positive and negative solution, operating a large space, simple structure and easy to control, etc. This parallel mechanism can not only be used for the development of glass cutting, grinding materials, milling, processing equipment, spare parts and other planes, but also can be used as a multi-DOF hybrid machine tool flat actuator parallel mechanism which can give full play the advantages of strong reconfiguration, with the main different combinations of auxiliary bodies and set up to meet the individual needs of the user reconfigurable manufacturing cell to be more complex parts processing and high-speed machining.

Abstract: Modal analysis for the truss structures of machine tool is very important. based on ANSYS, according to the truss structures of machine tool, the modal analysis is carried out in this paper. Afterwards, the first ten natural frequency, corresponding mode shape is obtained. By means of animation, ten-order modal vibration rule has been analyzed. The modal analysis is made by ANSYS11.0. It provides the theory for the design and application of truss structures.
