Abstract: The organization is a multi-leveled system. The ecological circulation system is the cycle module and the safeguard mechanism to maintain the dynamic cycle system and activities between the enterprise development and the enterprise external environment. In this paper, we discuss ecological circulation system of organization. We conduct the model of organization ecological cycle system, and analyze the exchange cycle between the enterprise organization and market and between organization and society. The results show that environment which organizations live in is complicated and changeful. Any organization doesn't exist in isolation. The organization must combine with other organizations, natural environment and social environment etc to constitute a whole of mutual contact, mutual restriction and interdependence.

Abstract: In recent years, environment protection has been taken into account in the analysis of manufacturing strategy. However, according to investigation in Chinese manufacturing industry, the overall level of environment protection of top 100 companies is still low as a whole. This study proposed and tested an extended sand cone model from environment protection perspective. The research used structural equation modeling and data from a sample of 212 Chinese manufacturers based on IMSS-V. The results show that environment protection has direct, positive, significant effects on the other four manufacturing capabilities. It is observed that the predominant strategic model in these firms is one of multiple, non-incompatible capabilities with cumulative effects. This means that Chinese manufacturing firms are able to achieve excellent results in other manufacturing objectives simultaneously when they take efforts to practice environment protection.

Abstract: We perfect Product-Process Matrix theory of Hayes and Wheelwright and propose a more generalized theoretical strategic model. In this paper, the data from International Manufacturing Strategy Survey in 2009 is used to examine the new model by hierarchical regression analysis. The results show that, different matches between flexible production capacity (manufacturing strategy), speed of product update and product customization (market strategy) will lead different business performance. The results improve the Product-Process Matrix theory, and provide theoretical and practical guidance to manufacturing enterprises for strategies choice.

Abstract: The application of World Class Manufacturing(WCM) practises is very important for manufacturing enterprises to improve their performance and achieve competitive advantages. This research use the data of International Manufacturing Strategy Survey(IMSS) in 2009 as samples to reveal the relationship between WCM practises and enterprise performance and to discover the effect of different countries on the above-mentioned relationship, based on hierarchy regression analysis method. The results show that WCM practises is positively related with enterprise performance, besides, the positive influence of SCM on enterprise performance in developing countries is greater than that in developed countries.

Abstract: The paper researches the using frequency of Continuous Improvement’s measure and the effect on enterprises, performance. With the continuing changes of the society, the enterprises are facing more and more uncertainty and unpredictability. As a continuously incremental process of enterprise’s level innovation capability, Continuous Improvement has become an important strategy to maintain the manufacturing competitiveness of the enterprises. Choosing the suitable measures is the key of Continuous Improvement. On the basis of international investigation of Continuous Improvement, the paper analyzes the using frequency of Continuous Improvement’s measure and makes a comparison of Chinese, Australian and European enterprises. The results show that foreign enterprises pay more attention to standardized process than Chinese enterprises. Through the analysis of the relationship between Continuous Improvement’s measure and Continuous Improvement’s performance, the results show that standardized process has a big effect on Continuous Improvement’s measure. On the basis of these researches, the paper thinks that Chinese enterprises should increase the understanding and application of standardized process when Chinese enterprises carry out Continuous Improvement.

Abstract: This paper aims to investigate the relationship among business strategies and business performance in global and local manufacturing companies. The research is based an International Manufacturing Strategy Survey (IMSS2005) of about 700 companies from more than 20 countries. We first proposed a new method to construct a generic measure of business performance from the available performance measures in IMSS. Based on this new measure we developed a simple discriminant analysis to allocate each entry (company in the IMSS) into a particular category of business performance. Of course we performed some statistical tests to confirm the validity of this classification. We then analysed the contribution (importance) of various environmental and competitive variables to each category of the generic business performance in order to identify the most influential variables and notice of their difference among different business performances. This was done intuitively using graphical analysis, but we also carried out statistical tests to confirm that companies at different performance levels do operate at different environments and pay different attentions to competitive strategies. The models we developed are simple but novel and very practical. The results showed significant differences among business performances in terms of influential variables, and we conclude that this method can also be used to analyse other part of the data from the IMSS.
