Abstract: According to the model devised by the design team of PACE Future Bus and the layout size of pure electric coaches in the market, we used CATIA to make a 3D model and made Topology optimization design by using HyperWorks. After that, we imposed loading according to specific conditions and made structural topology optimization and sized optimization design. Then we checked the coach skeleton beam element model and the strength of shell element model. Finally, the future bus frame was built completely.

Abstract: In this paper, the numerical simulation analysis of jlu fsae racing car aerodynamic character based on star-ccm+ was introduced. Several simulated situations had been set and the results of the situations were compared. The effect of the wheel rotating situation of the racing car out flow and aerodynamic character was concluded. It was found that the air flows surrounding the wheels and the wings of the racing influenced each other. When the rotating wheel situation was set during the simulation, the effect that the air flows influenced could be simulated more clearly and the result could be more calculatedly. It was necessary to set the wheel rotate when to simulate the racing car aerodynamic character. From the simulated results, it also could be seen that it was also necessary to take care of the wheel rotate when to do the racing car wind tunnel test.

Abstract: Simulations analysis of the aerodynamic for a sports car modeling before and after optimization was introduced in the paper by using commercial CFD code--STAR-CCM+. In the first simulation, we got the drag coefficient, the pressure of convective and the turbulent kinetic energy spectrum,then we found the positions that may affect the drag coefficient. Further analysis inferred that our modifications accorded with the aerodynamic principles. These results can provide the basis for the modeling design and further optimization.

Abstract: With the development of automotive technology and high-speed highway construction, the speed of the vehicles increase which cause the significant increase in the aerodynamic drag when road vehicles are moving. Thereby the power of the vehicles, fuel economy, operational stability and other properties are affected very seriously. Heavy-duty commercial vehicles as the most efficient way to transport goods on the highway are widely used, and the speed of the vehicles increases faster. Especially the demands for heavy-duty commercial vehicles are increasing in recent years. Reducing the aerodynamic drag by the analysis of external aerodynamic characteristics, improving the fuel economy and reducing energy consumption have become new research topics of heavy-duty commercial vehicles. To make the heavy-duty commercial vehicles meet the national standards of energy saving, a simplified heavy-duty commercial truck model was built in this paper. The numerical simulation of the vehicle was completed based on the theory of the aerodynamics. The aerodynamic characteristics were analyzed, according to the graphs of the pressure distribution, velocity distribution and flow visualization. To improve the aerodynamic characteristics of heavy-duty commercial vehicles, the main drag reduction measures are reducing the vortex of the cab and the container, the end of the container and the bottom of the container.

Abstract: To research the aerodynamic characteristics of minibus, the simplified model is studied with simulation and wind tunnel test. The validated method was adopted in the numerical simulation, the wind tunnel test were carried out in order to validate the results of numerical simulation. The tests include aerodynamic drag measure, filament method, and laser flow visualization. Through the contrasted research the results of simulation and test, the aerodynamic characteristics of minibus was analyzed and the characteristic of field around minibus was discovered. The conclusions provide the theoretical foundation for styling optimization of minibus, which are very helpful to develop new vehicle styling.

Abstract: When vehicles run on road, they will be overtaken, cross by other vehicles or be impacted by crosswind. The other events of overtaking and in crosswind were investigated more deeply. A few of paper report the state of the research on this problem. Until now there are no any wind tunnel and road tests to study on road vehicle aerodynamics while crossing each other. Some numerical simulations were carried out by adopting technology of sliding interface and moving mesh. The method of numerical simulations was narrated in detail. The transient process of vehicles crossing each other was realized. Then the trends of aerodynamic coefficients changing were obtained from the flow field of simulation results. The quantificational changing of vehicles aerodynamic coefficients was obtained when they cross each other. The vehicles are sedan and coach. The simulation results indicated that the all aerodynamic coefficients of two vehicles changed large. The aerodynamic force was important to the vehicles’ handling stability when they cross each other.

Abstract: With the development of automotive industry of China, more and more new cars are brought out. Then more and more stylists and engineers will take part in car styling to design new car. In the process of car styling, Car aerodynamics is important to its performance. Especially for more excellent handling and stability performance, more aerodynamic analysis and optimization should been done. At first it was introduced that the process of car styling in this paper. The functions of aerodynamics in the process were indicated. Secondly some ways of aerodynamic analysis were put forward. The first one is wind tunnel test and the second one called virtual wind tunnel test. The virtual wind tunnel test is one of the best modern ways of aerodynamic design which apply in the fields of aerodynamic research widely. It was based on computational fluid dynamics. The details of the virtual wind tunnel test simulation were narrated in this paper. Applying the virtual wind tunnel test aerodynamic drag coefficient, velocity contour and pressure distribution were got. Some advices to reduce aerodynamic drag of the design car were put forward. In one word, it is one simple, effective, convenient and fast way for aerodynamic design in car styling process using virtual wind tunnel test.
