Abstract: Due to excellent mechanical properties and high working efficiency, FRP sheet has attracted significant attention from the field of strengthening in civil engineering. This paper summarizes the current achievements in the FRP strengthened reinforced concrete beams under fatigue loading. The review and discussion focuses on the development of fatigue design, the fatigue failure mechanism, reinforcement methods, and environmental effects. Finally, it puts forward the main research directions in this field in the future.

Abstract: There are two reasons to enlarge the thickness of welding HDPE tri-branch tube. Firstly, welding weakens the HDPE material properties. Secondly, stress concentration occurs at the joint of tri-branch tube. The material properties of HDPE and the tensile strength of welding HDPE were tested. Based on the test results, the wall-thickness of HDPE tri-branch tube was investigated by numerical optimization design with particle swarm optimization (PSO). Two material constitutive models of elasto-palstic and Ramberg-Osgood for HDPE are adopted in FEM. Some valuable conclusions of pipeline design are concluded by the distribution of stress contour curves and optimization curves of welding joint of HDPE tri-branch tube.

Abstract: The improvement of the load carrying capacity of concrete columns under a triaxial compressive stress results from the strain restriction. Under a triaxial stress state, the capacity of the deformation of concrete is greatly decreased with the increase of the side compression. Therefore, confining the deformation in the lateral orientation is an effective way to improve the strength and ductility of concrete columns. This paper carried out an experimental investigation on axially loaded normal strength concrete columns confined by 10 different types of materials, including steel tube, glass fiber confined steel tube (GFRP), PVC tube, carbon fiber confined PVC tube (CFRP), glass fiber confined PVC tube (GFRP), CFRP, GFRP, polyethylene (PE), PE hybrid CFRP and PE hybrid GFRP. The deformation, macroscopical deformation characters, failure mechanism and failure modes are studied in this paper. The ultimate bearing capacity of these 10 types of confined concrete columns and the influences of the confining materials on the ultimate bearing capacity are obtained. The advantages and disadvantages of these 10 types of confining methods are compared.
