Abstract: In this paper, a forging problem is analyzed by using the overrange collocation method (ORCM), which is a new meshless method. By introducing some collocation points, which are located out of domain of the analyzed body, unsatisfactory issue of the positivity conditions of boundary points in collocation methods can be avoided. Because the overrange points are used only in interpolating calculation, no overconstrain occurs in partial differential equations on the solved problems.

Abstract: In this paper, an upsetting problem is analyzed by using a new meshless method called the overrange collocation method (ORCM). By introducing some collocation points, which are located at outside of domain of the analyzed body, unsatisfactory issue of the positivity conditions of boundary points in collocation methods can be avoided. Because the overrange points are used only in interpolating calculation, no over-constrain condition is imposed into solved boundary value problems.

Abstract: Point collocation methods have no mesh, no integration. While, the robustness of the point collocation methods is an issue especially when scattered and random points are used. To improve the robustness, some studies suggest that the positivity conditions can be important when using the point collocation methods. For boundary points, however, the positivity conditions cannot be satisfied, so that it is possible to get large numerical errors from the boundary points when using the point collocation methods. The author has proposed a point collocation method with a boundary layer of finite element. In this method, by introducing a boundary layer of finite element in boundary domain of workpiece, unsatisfactory issue of the positivity conditions of boundary points can be avoided, and the complicated boundary conditions can be easily imposed with the boundary layer of finite element. A forging process is analyzed by using the point collocation method with a boundary layer of finite element.

Abstract: In this paper, single action die and double action die hot forging problems are analyzed by a combined FEM, which consists of the volumetrically elastic and deviatorically rigid-plastic FEM and the heat transfer FEM. The volumetrically elastic and deviatorically rigid-plastic FEM has some merits in comparison with the conventional rigid-plastic FEMs. Differences of calculated results for the two forging processes can be clearly seen in this paper. It is also verified that these calculated results are similar to those of the conventional rigid-plastic FEM in comparison with analyses of the same numerical examples by the penalty rigid-plastic FEM.

Abstract: In this paper, a rigid-plastic hybrid element method is formulated, which is a mixed approach of the rigid-plastic domain-BEM and the rigid-plastic FEM based on the theory of slightly compressible plasticity. Since compatibilities of velocity and velocity's derivative between adjoining boundary elements and finite elements can be met, the velocity and the derivative of velocity can be calculated with the same precision for this hybrid element method. While, the compatibility of the velocity's derivative cannot be met for the rigid-plastic FEMs.
