Abstract: Ultrasound treating system is used to improve, continuously and on-line, the wettability between carbon fiber and phenolic resin during the process of impregnation. The cavitation and the agitation action in the liquid aroused by ultrasound improve the adsorption, diffusion and wetting of phenolic resin on the surface of carbon fiber, enhance the mechanical properties and finally utilize fully the outstanding property of carbon fiber reinforced composites. Effects of ultrasound on natural properties of prepregs and surface morphology of carbon fiber/phenolic resin composites are studied. The difference of composite surface between not treated and after treated by ultrasound is watched by SEM.

Abstract: Urchinlike Ni particles with different spines were synthesized. The microstructures and morphologies of the resulting materials were investigated by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. And the electromagnetic parameters of these urchinlike Ni were measured with vector network analyzer at 2-18 GHz frequency. The results indicate that the electromagnetic parameters are affected by morphologies of materials. The long urchin spines will lead to larger permittivity.

Abstract: Crystallization behavior of melt aluminum on the surfaces of SiC whisker (SiCw) was analyzed based on the consideration to obtain the SiC-Al interfaces with the lowest energy in SiCw/Al composite. The interfacial structure was investigated to determine whether a specific orientation relationship exists between SiC and Al. Analysis results indicate that four kinds of orientation relationships possibly exist between SiC and Al when only the <110> crystal direction of the aluminum is considered as the firstly formed crystal direction along the concave joint line of <110> of the SiC whisker. Interfacial atom match bonding models were set up in theory and one kind of crystal orientation relationship has been proved by our previous experimental result.
