Abstract: The simple way to synthesize crosslinkable multi-branched ethynyl fluorene-labeled molecules has been reported in this work. A three-armed molecule, OxDBFP is prepared by cyclotrimerization and phase transfer catalysis methods. 3-(6-Bromo-2-oxahexyl)-3-methyloxetane tethered to 9-position of fluorene is crosslinked when exposed to UV light. This kind of compounds can be proper candidates for full-color displays or solid-state lighting by low-cost solution prosessing.

Abstract: Two kinds of oligofluorenes containing acetylene units are synthesized by Sonogashira coupling reaction. naphthalene and anthracene are co-polymerized with ethynylfluorene, respectively. The structure and properties are characterized using NMR, UV-vis spectroscopy, elemental analysis, DSC and photoluminescence. The oligomers are soluble in common organic solvents such as benzene and easily spin-coated onto glass substrates. The products yield strong emission differing from blue to green-yellow, and red-shift are suppressed with the growth in size of co-monomers.

Abstract: A series of novel polystyrene derivatives with oligofluorene pendants were synthesized by Friedel-Crafts reaction. The structure and properties of the polymers and monomers were characterized using NMR, UV-vis spectroscopy, DSC, photoluminescence and electroluminescence spectroscopy. The content of fluorescent units in OPS (oligofluorene grafted polystyrene) was proportional to the dosage of oligofluorene monomers in a wide scope. All the materials were soluble in common organic solvents and easily spin-coated onto the indium-tin oxide(ITO)-coated glass substrates. The polymers showed good fluorescent properties with comparely wide photoluminescent spectra. This method could be an easy way to obtain non-conjugated fluorescent polymers for photoelectric devices by solution processing. The electroluminescent properties of these polymers were reported briefly in this paper.
