Abstract: In order to improve the efficiency of ultra-precision processing, the semi-fixed abrasive plate (SFAP) is developed to reduce or eliminate the surface and subsurface defects and improve the process efficiency. The interaction of the semi-fixed abrasive plate-workpiece is the key factor for the processing. The complex plate-workpiece interaction is taken into consideration in the generation of the semi-fixed abrasive surface in this paper. A numerical model which allows describing the elastic-plastic contact load of the isotropic fractal surface and the real contact area of plate-workpiece is developed for the semi-fixed abrasive plate. The results shows that the real contact area is only a part of the workpiece and it changed with the contact load alteration, it is useful to determine the processing parameter of SFAP lapping.

Abstract: In order to kinematic simulate the lapping process with the semi-fixed abrasive plate; a fractal modeling of the semi-fixed abrasive lapping abrasive plate’s surface topography is presented in this paper. A numerical procedure for effectively generating the semi-fixed abrasive lapping abrasive plate surface topography is suggested. The procedure is based on the fractal characteristic of the semi-fixed abrasive plate and the fractal dimension was obtained from the measured structure function of the abrasive plate surface used the Digital Microscope Resources Center. Numerical examples are used to illustrate the viability of the approach. It would be powerful to describe the complex interaction of the abrasive plate and workpiece.

Abstract: This paper mainly introduced the method of formulae design for the grinding wheel with micro-crystal corundum. The regressive method included mathematics model, experimental way and steps. Meanwhile, the manufacturing technique of PVA grinding wheel was introduced. According to the result of experimental we figured out the regressive equations about the percent contents of binder, water, formaldehyde, hydrochloric acid,vesicant with nominal hardness degree. This is a value that calculated from the hole-scale into a continuous value by a mathematics expression. Then using the regressive equations we can figured out the series formulae of PVA abrasives with common hardness.

Abstract: A new process method called multi-unit-lapping plate process is proposed in this paper. This technique could reduce change of cutting depth owing to difference of grain size and protrusion height of surface abrasive of grinding plate, and near equal-cutting-depth processing is realized. For characteristics and machining performance of multi-unit-lapping, this paper reports the following studies: A new experiment was carried out with the optimal parameters and compared with the traditional plate, under the same processing conditions. The results showed that the abrasive grains cutting depth changed obviously with multi-unit-lapping plate.
