Abstract: In this study, the ultrasonic PZT transducers were used for exciting and receiving Lamb waves on NiTi alloy sheet. Lamb waves were measured when the temperature of the NiTi alloy changed. Analysis on frequency spectrums of the Lamb waves was also done. Some marked changes were observed in the dependence of the waveforms and the frequency spectrums of the Lamb waves versus temperature during phase transformation of NiTi alloy. The results show that phase transformation temperature of NiTi alloy sheet may be examined by Lamb wave method.

Abstract: In this paper we study on a novel method to distinguish the loading location on structures based on optical fiber network. The principle of detection and monitoring system is illustrated in the paper and the experiments of loading position judgment are conducted. The experimental data and curves meet preferably to the analysis of theory. The results obtained are encouraging offering the possibilities of employing this novel method of loading position judgment in intelligent composite structures. The system of monitoring and analysis is approved to be real-time, effective and reliable and the research in this paper offers a new way of application of the special optical intelligent structure.

Abstract: Interferometry is a meterage technology which is based on light-wave interference theory. In the general interferometry measurements, the procedure of analyzing and studying interferogram depends on a processing system mostly based on PC. In this paper an image processing system based on DSP is conceived, and the entire system consists of a image collecting module, a digital data exchanging interface and a image processing module. A typical interferogram collected from experiments is processed by the system conceived above. Comparing the processed stripe with the ideal pattern, we found that the system is competent for interferometry.
