  • Advances in Fracture and Strength
This volume comprises selected papers from the Asian Pacific Conference for Fracture and Strength (APCFS’04), held on Jeju Island, Korea during the 6th to 8th October, 2004. During this conference, participants from the Asian-Pacific region gathered in order to exchange the latest experimental, theoretical and computational research on the fracture, strength, integrity and reliability of materials and structures.
  • Damage Assessment of Structures VI
The study of damage evolution, location and characterisation is an important aspect of the growing area of SHM and is a major theme of the conference. The link between SHM and machine condition-monitoring is emphasised by the substantial contribution, to the proceedings, which concerns the application of damage assessment techniques to rotating machines. In order to analyse efficiently the data–rich information, provided by monitoring and NDE techniques, it is necessary to use advanced signal processing procedures. A significant proportion of the conference is therefore dedicated to signal processing and computational methods.
  • Fractography of Advanced Ceramics II
The aim of this book is to make an important contribution to the development of new functional and structural ceramic materials which exhibit enhanced performances and have improved lifetimes and reliability, by fostering a better understanding of the mechanisms of their deterioration and failure under various stress conditions and at various operating temperatures. The publication covers the topics of basic failure phenomena; indentation fracture; fracture and fractography of structural, electro- and bio- ceramics; fracture of fiber-reinforced composites; fracture of porous and laminated ceramics; defect - strength and microstructure - fracture toughness relationships; damage mechanisms in nanoceramics; Fracture and fractography of multilayered ceramics and coatings; machining cracks and edge-chipping; and the fracture and fractography of composites and nanocomposites.
  • Advances in Fracture and Failure Prevention

The Far East and Oceanic Fracture Society (FEOFS) and the Center for Physics and Chemistry of Fracture and Failure Prevention (PCFP) jointly organized a pair of conferences, FEOFS 2003 and 2nd ICPCF, on October 20-22 at Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan.

  • Advances in Grinding and Abrasive Processes
The present volume contains selected papers from the 12th Grinding and Machining Conference, held in China (GMC 2003).
  • Advances in Fracture and Damage Mechanics III
This book presents the proceedings of the 3rd International Conference on Fracture and Damage Mechanics (FDM), of  the 2-4 September 2003, at the Liborianum in Paderborn, Germany.
  • Composite Materials III
Composite materials have come to play essential roles in various areas of industry and technology during the past few decades due to their excellent performance. In order to exchange innovative ideas and technical information in this area, Chinese scientists on both sides of the Taiwan Strait have already met twice since 2000. The 3rd cross-strait conference on composite materials was held on May 7-12, 2003, in Wuhan, China; sponsored by the Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC).
  • Damage Assessment of Structures V
This volume presents the proceedings of the fifth in the celebrated series of biennial international conferences on the Damage Assessment of Structures (DAMAS 2003). Studies of damage evolution, location and characterization are primordial aspects of the rapidly expanding field of SHM (structural health monitoring) and are major themes in this volume. In order to analyze efficiently the data-rich information provided by monitoring and by NDE (non-destructive evaluation) techniques, it is necessary to use advanced signal-processing procedures. Therefore, a significant fraction of the present book is dedicated to the optimization of signal processing and computation methods.
  • Superplasticity in Advanced Materials - ICSAM-97
Interest in the phenomenon of superplasticity has been increasing steadily over the past two decades, both with regard to promoting fundamental scientific understanding as well as commercial application. Most of the early studies on superplasticity dealt with microduplex metallic alloys. The unabated interest in, and scientific research on, superplasticity has now broadened the scope of the topic to include intermetallic compounds, ceramics, composites and nanocrystalline materials.
  • Progress in Experimental and Computational Mechanics in Engineering
This book comprises the papers presented at the International Conference on Experimental and Computational Mechanics (ECM02), which was held in Dunhuang, China. The proceedings of this prestigious Sino-Japanese conference covered very wide-ranging topics.
