Abstract: This paper proposed an energy-aware routing method, P-AODV. Based on the AODV routing protocol, this study designed a passive power control (PPC) algorithm to enhance energy efficiency. The proposed method includes signal detection and power setting phases. During the signal detection phase, the source node broadcasts the route request packets (RREQ) and the downstream intermediate node calculates the optimum power level at the upstream intermediate node according to the received signal strength indicator (RSSI) after receiving the RREQ. During the power set phase, the destination node returns the RREQ packet to notify the power level of the upstream nodes to the source node. After that, all nodes from the source node to the destination node engaged in transmission will transmit data in a coordinated power level. As indicated by the computer simulation results, P-AODV could have 30% higher energy efficiency than traditional AODV. This PPC algorithm could also be used in wireless mesh networks (WMNs).

Abstract: Ad Hoc network, a self-organization network system, can establish a communication to a plurality of mobile users without any infrastructure. All nodes in this type of network system exist via portable sources. The hot spot of Ad Hoc network is to realize further energy consumption reduction. In the work, an improved protocol, by which energy consumption is reduced, is proposed based on AODV protocol; named NL-AODV, it choose the optimal routing by the capacity, the nodes energy and the hop. It is verified that the improved protocol can effectively prolong the original lifetime of the network and obviously improve the routing efficiency by simulations. Consequently, it is more suitable for dynamic topology changes in the network system at present.

Abstract: Mobile Ad Hoc network is a self-composing network with a highly dynamic network topology. Although it has many advantages, there are still some safety problems in it. One of these problems is the black hole attack. The black hole attack is a typical attack to the Ad Hoc network and is also the main threat facing it. In this paper, the safety problems exist in the AODV protocol, which is a kind of routing protocol in the Ad Hoc, has been analyzed in detail. In the meanwhile, an improved Secure Ad Hoc On-Demand Distance Vector Routing called OSAODV has been proposed and realized based on the NS2. Finally, three set of experiments have been made, the results have shown that the OSADOV can avoid the black hole attack very well.

Abstract: This Marine mobile ad-hoc network (MMANET) is a dynamic wireless network, and the random mobility of ship nodes and limited radio transmission range are the main challenges in the design of the robust routing algorithm. Dynamic Source Routing (DSR) and Ad hoc On-Demand Vector Routing (AODV) are typical on-demand protocols, but if there are some nodes moving with random fast velocity and limited transmission range in communication network, the network will be under an unstable link state and this situation may lead to large delay and packet loss. In this paper, a new scheme named Dynamic Link Self-healing mechanism on the basis of Mobility Quantization AODV (DLMQ-AODV) is proposed to solve the problem. Mobility quantization of node is resulting from relative velocity and distance, through computation of weighting, dimensionless etc. We take advantage of mobility quantization to establish dynamic link self-healing mechanism in order to improve the routing performance. The simulation results show that DLMQ-AODV has a better performance in comparison to DSR and AODV.

Abstract: PMP-AODV routing protocol which introduces priority setting, multi-point relay and path stability is proposed. The algorithm message format is discussed, the MPR selection algorithm is elaborated, the measurement of stability of path is designed, and the working flow of PMP-AODV is analyzed. The simulation result shows that the PMP-AODV protocol is less packet loss rate and lower end-to-end delay than original AODV protocol under the large wireless Mesh network.

Abstract: Farmland environment is away from power facilities and its information collection lasts long time. These characteristics make the wireless sensor networks in agriculture face the problem of energy constraint. Efficient routing and sleeping algorithm can save energy. Considering the node residual energy and the collection cycle of the destination nodes, this paper improved a WSN routing and sleeping algorithm based on the AODV routing algorithm. This algorithm establishes routing path based on the node residual energy and the node collection cycle. Node sleeping cycle determined after the routing path has been established. By routing path selection and appropriate sleeping cycle this algorithm can reduce overall energy consumption and avoid excessive energy consumption of some individual nodes.

Abstract: ZigBee is an emerging standard for the low cost, low power and low rate wireless networks and the ZigBee technology is well suited to a wide range of energy management and efficiency applications in areas such as building automation, industrial, medical and home automation. ZigBee is a version of AODV routing protocol, where the routes are discovered RREQ through the network by the source broadcasting and sending RREP back the destination, so make ZigBee routing efficient, we used AODV mesh topology methods to send and receive data from source to destination and vice versa. In this paper we present an improved version of ZigBee-AODV mesh network, which utilizes and divide the topology of network into one or more logical clusters and restricts the flooding of route request outside the cluster. ZigBee-AODV mesh network uses nodes of the same cluster to share routing information, which significantly reduces the route path discovery and created cluster formation to decrease the routing path. The proposed protocol has higher reliability and lower overhead than AODV.

Abstract: With the rapid development of mobile ad hoc network, energy and trust are important to the network. Energy consumption and trust routing scheme are the main issues in mobile ad hoc network. Trust routing is related to many factors such as hop numbernode residual energy and node behavior. To use the multi-source information, multi-agent information fusion method is used to design trust routing scheme. The definition of trust routing is proposed. Ad hoc On-Demand Distance Vector (AODV) routing protocol is used to validate trust routing scheme, Route Reply (RREP) Message is extended to record node residual energy and behavior information. NS-2 simulator is used to simulate different network scenarios. Simulation results show that low power trust routing scheme can improve the security and efficiency of network, the scheme is sensitive to node residual energy, so it extends the service lifetime of the network.

Abstract: in order to reduce the congestion in AODV protocol and decrease the time taking to find the route, CA-AODV protocol was applied to a routing selection algorithm with cognitive ability of an ant colony algorithm. The algorithm uses probability routing and diffusion of pheromone improving routing search capabilities, around development send congested nodes, to improve the route algorithm performance, enhance the adaptability of the algorithm. By comparing the improved routing algorithm With the original AODV protocol, the simulation results show that, the routing algorithm reduces the end-to-end delay and network congestion.

Abstract: Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) is an effective method to solve the bottleneck of information collection and wireless transmission in Smart Grid. The particularity of MANET determines the importance of routing protocols. In order to improve the performance of MANET routing protocol, in this paper we evaluate the routing protocol, i.e., Ad hoc On demand Distance Vector (AODV), from several perspectives that did not draw attention in previous works. Furthermore, we also compare AODV with the routing protocol Dynamic source Routing (DSR). The simulation shows that AODV outperforms DSR in generally, and the former is suitable for larger MANET network. The simulation results in this paper not only provide effective evidence for further optimized routing protocols and the current protocols, but also provide feasible solution for Smart Grid to collect and transmission data by using MANET technology.
