Abstract: Aiming at the quality problems of ‘over polishing’ and ‘insufficient polishing’ in the process of traditional extrusion abrasive flow machining,An abrasive flow polishing method at the constantly small pressure difference is developed, the hydraulic proportional control system is designed, and the mathematical modeling of the hydraulic proportional control system for small pressure difference constant extrusion polishing abrasive flow machining is set up. The simulation results show that the polishing pressure can be well controlled and the stability of polishing velocity is improved, which will improve the extrusion abrasive flow polishing quality.

Abstract: Abstract. Abrasive flow machining (AFM) is an advanced technology which can improve the uniform consistency of profiled surface. First, the dielectric characteristics of the abrasive flow (the medium features include medium types, medium viscosity coefficient, the concentration of medium and abrasive, abrasive type, abrasive size) is studied, abrasive flow including different medium is deployed by mixing and mix well of the polymer silicone fluid, silicone oil, wax, and other fats, and adding silicon carbide with different particle size and mixed for processing experiment. Within the limits of the workpiece polishing, the change direction of the surface roughness and the removal rate of workpiece surface are substantially same and approaching the linear relationship, the lowest surface roughness Ra of SiC (abrasive particle size is 200#) reduced from 3.5μm to 0.5μm. The hardness and durability of the silicon carbide abrasive in this study is quite good, and the price is low, the processing characteristics are quite consistent with the economic costs on the demand.

Abstract: Being a high efficient technique for metal surface treatment , centrifugal grinding is widely applied in the field of polishing and burring for small-sized asymmetric parts. During the process of centrifugal grinding, the dynamic characteristics of the abrasive flow, which is determined by the planetary driver ratio of the instrument, has a profound impact on the quality and producing efficiency of the workpiece. Targeting on the massive abrasive, this paper investigates experimentally theinfluence of the planetary driver ratio of the instrument to the producing quality and efficiency. On one hand, a high-speed photograph is employed to record the movement of the abrasive flow in the processing of centrifugal grinding. The dynamic characteristics of the abrasive flow have been investigated for different planetary driver ratios. By qualitative analyzing the high-speed photographing results, the perceptual knowledge of the characteristics and the kinematic rules of the abrasive flow have been obtained. On the other hand, the surface roughness data at different planetary gear ratio and polishing time have been measured. The influence of planetary gear ratio on producing process have been illustrated by plotting the roughness-time curve combined with the high-speed photograph so as to provide a scientific basis for optimizing the parameters of design and technology.
