Abstract: Characteristics of absorption of activated carbon on methylene blue were studied. It was demonstrated that adsorption of activated carbon on methylene blue was very stable on monomolecular adsorption and when multimolecular adsorption existed adsorption became to be weak. An improved method was suggested that many samples were tested adsorption of activated carbon on methylene blue in parallel experiment and certain sample was selected to use in next experiment, its color should approximate to the color of 0.4% CuSO4 but darker slightly and activated carbon loaded methylene blue was added some fresh phosphate buffer solution to desorb methylene blue on the activated carbon, testing absorption value total concentration of methylene blue in the solutionin (merging the first and second experiment) by spectrophotometer, calculating adsorption value on difference method which original volume of methylene blue added subtracts rest of methylene blue in the solution after adsorption. The new method was simple, rapid and easy. word times would shorten obviously.

Abstract: In this study, using solidified landfilled sludge (SLS) and its pyrolyzed produce (PSLS) as adsorbents, adsorption characteristics of Cu2+ and Zn2+ onto SLS and PSLS was investigated. These results revealed that PSLS had more irregular pores and its surface roughness increased, and the surface area of PSLS was twice than that of SLS. Adsorption studies showed that adsorption capacity of Cu2+ and Zn2+ increased with the increasing dosage of adsorbents, and the adsorption process of Cu2+ and Zn2+ onto SLS or PSLS could be divided into the first rapid step and the second slower step. Based on Langmuir equation, the maximum limiting adsorption capacities of Cu2+ and Zn2+ onto PSLS was much higher that onto SLS. Moreover, FTIR analysis showed that the adsorption of Cu2+ and Zn2+ on SLS depended on active functional group such as hydroxy aldehydes while that relied on the groups such as C=C bond of aromatic rings, Si-O-Si or Si-O-C structures for PSLS.

Abstract: Based on previous measured data and adsorption isotherms experiment of six coal samples from different stratification of the southern Qinshui basin, discussed the diversity between different stratification on adsorption characteristics and its main controlling factors. The results show that: In the macro level, bright coal layer has the highest adsorption capacity, Langmuir volume (VL) is up to 40m3/t ; the adsorption capacity of dull coal and semi-dull coal is relatively low. By analyzing the relationship between the Langmuir volume of coal petrography and various factors, discovering the Langmuir volume has a positive correlation with vitrinite content, vitrinite reflectance, fixed carbon content, and micro-pores content, but negative correlation with ash, while it has no significant linear relationship between moisture, porosity, permeability. By grey relational analysis, it shows that the impact is in descending order from vitrinite content to fixed carbon content, vitrinite reflectance, micro-pores content, ash content.

Abstract: The effects of different parameters on adsorption of Zn2+with coconut activated carbon were studied. The adsorption characteristics on Zn2+ by coconut activated carbon were explored in this study. The contact time to reach adsorption equilibrium was 80 min. The suitable conditions for adsorption of Zn2+ by coconut activated carbon were exhibited as follows: the dosing ratio was 0.5 g/10 mg·L-1, the contact time was 80 min, the temperature was 37°C and the pH was 7.

Abstract: The adsorption property of Cu2+ in aqueous solution by carbonaceous adsorbent made by sludge was studied. Under static conditions, the influences to the adsorption properties by the dosage of adsorbent, adsorption time, concentration of Cu2+, adsorption temperature, pH value, and other factors were systematically studied. The adsorption kinetics of the carbonaceous adsorbent was analyzed, and its adsorption properties were primarily discussed. The research results show that the carbonaceous adsorbent made by sludge has strong removal efficiency of Cu2+; the adsorption process complies with the Fruendlich adsorption isotherm; and the adsorption process can be represented by first-order kinetic model.

Abstract: Directly mixing the PCM to asphalt mixture may adversely affect mixture performance. By the experiment of SEM, the diffusion-absorption circle testing and the DSC, the micro-morphology and the adsorption characteristics to PCM of four carriers and the thermal properties of the composite shape-stabilized phase change materials (CSPCM) were analyzed. The results showed that the activated carbon, the floating bead and the white carbon black have more developed porous structure. The white carbon black has the best effect on the adsorption of PCM. The shape-stabilized PCM prepared by the physical adsorption method has the leakage problem. The CSPCM with the white carbon black carrier has the best heat storage capacity. The white carbon black is the best carrier of PCM for asphalt mixture.
