Abstract: A novel series of fatty betaines containing a pyrimidine ring with different alky chain lengths were synthesized by condensation of fatty N,N'-diphenylalkylamidines with a specific highly reactive malonic ester derivative under mild conditions. The chemical structures of products were characterized by common spectroscopic analyses (FTIR, mass spectra, 1H NMR, and 13C NMR spectrometry). Equilibrium surface tension and conductivity as a function of concentration of dodecyl pyrimidinum betaine (betaine with a 12 -carbon alkyl chain) in ethanolic solutions were measured and the critical micelle concentration (CMC) was determined at 30 °C. The results showed that the critical micelle concentration (CMC) of dodecyl pyrimidinum betaine is 0.925 mmol/L and the corresponding surface tension (γCMC) is 25.38 mN/m respectively. These results revealed that the synthesized fatty pyrimidinium betaines are efficient amphoteric surfactants making them promising candidates for applications in a very large number of areas.

Abstract: Synthesis of Polyvinyl Acetate (PVAc) through the conversion of Vinyl Acetate Monomer (VAM) was carried out by emulsion polymerization method assisted by thermal initiator Ammonium persulfate (APS) under reaction temperature was kept at 70 °C – 80 °C with 5 hours of reaction time and agitation speed at 300 rpm. The polymerization reaction was running used batch process technique where is all components were mixed all together simultaneously. A set of polymerization reactions was conducted when the absence of surfactant and cationic and amphoteric surfactant presence. The monomer chain's double bond was found at 1645 cm-1 was measured by FTIR Spectrophotometer did not disappear after polymerization reaction was utterly done. The spectrum FTIR of Polyvinyl acetate did not explicitly found at 1644 cm-1. During the reaction, characterization was conducted by measuring the solid content value where the maximum solid content was achieved was 6,1 % when using Amphoteric surfactant while the lowest solid content was obtained when the absence of surfactant. Other parameters were conducted to observe the acidity value by pH Meter.

Abstract: The phosphobetaine amphoteric surfactant of N, N-dimethyl-tridecane hydroxyethyl ammonium phosphate (PBET-13), was synthesized by using epichlorohydrin, NaH2PO4 and dodecyl/tetradecyl dimethyl amine and cetyl/octadecyl dimethyl ammonium as raw materials. The scale inhibition, interfacial tension and foaming performance of PBET-13 were studied. The results show that the surfactant has higher scale inhibition efficiency to CaSO4 than that of CaCO3. PBET-13 solution with the appropriate concentration of NaCl could reach to the ultra-low value of interfacial tension, and PBET-13 shows good foam performance.

Abstract: A kind of novel betaine type amphoteric surfactant was synthesized using tetradecylamine and pentaerythritol as the starting material. The influence factors of the synthesis process were studied. The optimal condition of the synthesis was gained. The results have show that the reaction time and mole ratio (Dimethyl tetradecyl tertiary/ Intermediate) were 16h and 1.2/1 at 120°C.The structure of myristyl sulpho betaine type amphoteric surfactant was identified by FTIR.Then it was performed the surface tension tests to determine the critical micelle concentration (cmc).

Abstract: A kind of novel betaine type amphoteric surfactant was synthesized using tetradecylamine and pentaerythritol as the starting material. The structure of bismyristyl bisulpho betaine type amphoteric surfactant was identified by FTIR.The influence factors of the synthesis process were studied. The optimal condition of the synthesis was gained. The results have show that the reaction time and mole ratio (Intermediate / Dimethyl tetradecyl tertiary) were 18 h and 0.5/1 at 135°C. Then it was performed the surface tension tests to determine the critical micelle concentration(cmc).

Abstract: N-(3-dehydroabietyloxy-2-hydroxy) propyl-N, N-dimethyl (2-hydroxy) phosphate betaine was synthesized through the 3-dehydroabietyloxy-2-hydroxypropyl chloride and tertiary amine intermediate by using dehydroabietic acid as raw materials. The structure of the target product was confirmed by FT-IR, 1H NMR. The surface-active property was investigated by surface tension experiment. The surface activity of the mixed system of the product and sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS) was determined. The results showed that critical micelle concentration (CMC) of the product was 1.34 mmol•L-1. Strong synergism in product was observed combining with SDS, and the optimum synergism was obtained at the molar ratio of 1:1.
