Abstract: In the business world today, organizations must be able to respond promptly and efficiently to the changing market needs. Therefore, the flaw in the conventional approach such as inefficiency and time consumption can contribute to product failure in the marketplace. This hinders organizations to provide the performance required and should be improved to respond to the current situation. Concurrent engineering should be adopted to overcome the problems associated with the conventional approach. This paper focuses on minimizing the conventional method by implementing concurrent engineering tools and techniques. Thus, the main objective of this paper is to reduce the wastage of time and costs, as well as labor during packaging process, by identifying the failure of the existing process and choosing a new concept for the packaging process using the integration of FMECA and AHP approach. Failures in the current procedure of packaging process were identified by using FMECA analysis, and 4 new concepts were proposed to improve the packaging process. To select the best concept, AHP was used due to the variety aspects to be considered, such as performance, maintenance, time of development, cost of development and potential cause of failure, in the selection of new concepts. The result shows that the proposed new concept for the packaging process can reduce the time, costs, and labor, in addition to the various aspects considered in the selection of a new concept. This paper presents the importance of considering the concurrent engineering tools in the manufacturing industry.

Abstract: At present, intermodal logistics centers play an important role in the world in context of transport and logistics services. The purpose of this paper is to propose the methodology for selecting the appropriate storage area design for intermodal transport units (ITU ́s) in intermodal logistics center. In this matter, four different scenarios of storage area design were taken into. Storage area configuration can significantly influence the logistics and transport services productivity and can have a significant impact on the economics effectiveness of the enterprise. In the paper, the AHP method is used in the context of selecting the appropriate design. This method is able to assess each design in regard to each of the determined criterion and finally prioritize all the designs.

Abstract: Risk becomes an increasingly concerned factor in contemporary competitive market. Based on the literature review on the theories of human resources management (HRM) risk and the reasons why they exist, this paper constructs the model of HRM risk, and then conducted an empirical research to analyze the HRM risk in a local software company using fuzzy comprehensive evaluation. It finally provides us some practical precautions on the HRM risk. It could be mentioned that this topic has certain practical significance since that the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation simplifies the identification process, reduces the influence of subjective factors, and enhances the scientific and rational factors.

Abstract: In order to evaluate the health condition of the tunnel in South China and give advices on reinforcement and maintenance scheme, a post-earthquake health diagnosis method is presented. After a comprehensive investigation on failure modes of tunnel, a four-level ranking method and a index system for post-earthquake health diagnosis of highway tunnel are proposed. Besides, analytical hierarchy process (AHP) is introduced into for determining the post-earthquake health diagnosis mode. Case study manifests the validity of the proposed method, which can provide valuable guide to the post-earthquake health diagnosis and relief work.

Abstract: Natural fibres with variable properties are found in many engineering applications because of its low cost and biodegradability .The selection of suitable fibres involves the evaluation of a number of alternatives based on certain criteria. The purpose of this study is to suggest the use of analytical hierarchy process (AHP) in the selection of natural fibres for hybrid laminated composites. It was found that the most suitable natural fibre to be used with Kevlar 29 in hybrid laminated composites is kenaf fibre. It is expected that this finding will significantly contribute to the development of hybrid laminated composites for vehicle ballistic protection.

Abstract: This study established a support tool framework for TRIZ practitioners to specify the problems statement stage in TRIZ method through utilizing the Multi Criteria Decision Method (MDCM) of Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). The proposed framework was analyzed and evaluated by a case study of car’s dashboard. From a list of problems and customer complaints gathered by survey, the problems were evaluated through AHP method and resulted only three major problems that should be highlighted for further steps. Results indicated that the improvement design generated by both methods could came out an appropriate new design effectively and avoided the cost waste during the product design and development processes.

Abstract: . Amid the fierce rising competition in the market, accelerating the problem solving and decision making process have become major issues in product design especially in conceptual design stage. For years, Theory of Inventive Problem Solving (TRIZ) has been extensively applied in problem solving. In this paper, Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) was proposed to strengthen three major steps in TRIZ methodology namely as problem definition, root cause identification and solution generation. The integration was then structured in the form of computer-based system. The integration, application and software in AHP and TRIZ method have been discussed in this paper. This proposed support system not only provided evidence that TRIZ methodologies improved by the support of AHP and also aided the designers in early design phase such as concept, process and material selection.

Abstract: A complex or unstructured problem is based on multi criteria not on a single criterion. A contractor selection problem is a multi-criteria problem. A correct decision-making is required for selecting the appropriate contractor for a construction project. Selection of a contractor is a key decision made by clients and the process of selection a contractor has become an important issue in construction projects. Many multi-criteria techniques have been proposed and applied to such problems solution. This paper aims to propose integrated model for MCDM. The integrated model contains two stages. First stage integrates two MCDM methods are AHP and ANN to prepare a shortlist of the best alternatives. Second stage apply statistical model COP to choose the optimum alternative from the best alternatives in a shortlist. Proposed model for tendering system provides automated a decision-making process that reduces the time and manpower requirements for processing tender
