Abstract: For the purpose of achieving high performance of intelligent buildings, it needs to pay expanses for maintaining the intelligent systems. So it is in great need to analyze the costs and benefits of building intelligent system to help building owners to make decision on installing intelligent systems or not. This paper proposes an investment-benefit assessing approach for building intelligent systems. Net Present Value (NPV) is used as an index to evaluate the performance of building intelligent system. The NPV is calculated by analyzing the initial capital investment, maintenance costs, and the tangible and intangible benefits in building life cycle. The intangible benefits are quantified using a series of indexes which represent the cash flows brought by the intangible benefits. Different weights of these indexes are used to express the different contributions of these intangible benefits. Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method [ is used to quantify the weights of the indexes.

Abstract: In order to control the construction of asphalt pavement more precisely, an analytical hierarchy process (AHP) was used to screen the major control index during the construction process.. The results show that compactness, air void and thickness of surface course are the control indexes affecting construction quality, and are the major factors that lead to early damages. The weights of the three indexes are 0.43788, 0.2614, and 0.1818, respectively. Obvious correlations are shown between compactness and air void as well as thickness of surface. Finally, the compactness is chosen as the control index of construction based on the principle of convenient measurement and used to calculate reliability.

Abstract: There are a number of different possible End-Of-Life (EOL) treatment scenarios for products at their EOL. The decision to select the best EOL scenario for a particular product, its subassemblies and individual components, depends on multiple criteria. The performance of a particular EOL option can be better against one criterion, but might not perform satisfactorily with respect to another. To overcome the problem generated by the conflicting criteria, a multi criteria decision analysis (MCDA) technique will be used. In this project MCDA is used to develop a system which aids users to determine the best EOL scenario of products by considering the user preferences and performance of competing EOL options with respect to different affecting criteria.

Abstract: Throughput and berths capacity are two important measures of port operating ability. Based on these two aspects, this paper established port operating index system for Guangdong Province, and made comprehensive evaluation and analysis on 11 large-scale ports in Guangdong. During the evaluation process, the AHP and Gray Incidence Analysis (GIA) methods are combined to exploratory analysis on the port operating ability and development emphasis of each port. The results show that the ranking of throughput aspect or berth capacity are inconsistent with comprehensive ranking result, that is, obvious differences exist between these 11 ports and each of them have their own development priorities, which is reasonable, realistic and in line with the actual situation in Guangdong Province.

Abstract: This paper is presented fuzzy preference relations approach to forecast the success of implementing advanced manufacturing technology (AMT). In the manufacturing environment, performance measurement is based on different quantitative and qualitative factors. This study proposes an analytic hierarchical prediction model based on fuzzy preference relations to help the organizations become aware of the essential factors affecting the AMT implementation, forecasting the chance of successful implementing AMT, as well as identifying the actions necessary before implementing AMT. Then predicted success/failure values are obtained to enable organizations to decide whether to initiate AMT, inhibit adoption or take remedial actions to increase the possibility of successful AMT initiatives.

Abstract: Based on the fuzzy mathematics and analytical hierarchy process (AHP), the water quality was evaluated and analyzed according to 7 water pollution factors in 7 monitoring sections at the Dahuofang Reservoir which reflected the water quality at reservoir inflow, in reservoir area, and at reservoir outflow. The results show that: In 2010, the Dahuofang Reservoir was mainly polluted by nitrogen/phosphorus nutrient salts. Among the reservoir inflow, the Hunhe River was the most polluted. The water quality in reservoir area was mainly of Class II; the water quality at reservoir outflow was also of Class II, and was safe and reliable. According to the change of water quality monitoring value at three sections of Hunhe River (#73, #37 and #7) from 2005 - 2010, the pollution in the reservoir area had been effectively controlled, and the water quality in the reservoir area had been steadily improved.

Abstract: Transformer life cycle cost risk was analyzed systematically and scientifically. Risk evaluation index system of the transformer life cycle cost was established based on AHP(Analytical Hierarchy Process) . The 1-9 scale of the risk indicators was used to determine the weight of the evaluation index system, thus the combination of expert experience with quantitative and qualitative evaluation results are realized. Application results show that the method have practicality and effectiveness and has theoretical and practical significance for proposed effective cost risk optimization and control strategies for cost risk factors to minimize the risk of transformer life cycle cost.

Abstract: Assessing social insurance fund safety objectively is useful to make effective risk management and control, so as to lower the economic loss. The fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method based analytical hierarchy process(AHP) is adopted to evaluate the social insurance fund safety. And social insurance fund safety evaluation index system is established according to the characteristics of the social insurance fund safety and the development tendency of social insurance .Then AHP method is applied to determine the more reasonable index weight and the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation model is used to evaluate social insurance fund safety of three cities. Finally, some improvement suggestions are proposed. The results show that the index is reasonable and quantitative and the method can help improve the safety of the social insurance fund as well as provide decision-making for the government.

Abstract: The Ship-Bridge collision accident risk evaluation model based on the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) was established and the weights of factors were confirmed. Qualitative and quantitative assessments of the Vessel-Bridge collision accident risk level were accomplished. The application results show that the possibility of Ship-Bridge collision accident could be evaluated by the security risk evaluation model based on the AHP. It can provide decision-making suggestions for the sitting of the new bridge and optimal evaluation for bridge type scheme.

Abstract: Convenience stores in Taiwan have integrated e-commerce systems into their logistics systems to develop a new retail delivery model. Store-to-store delivery service is the one of the retail delivery systems served by FamilyMart.com and 7-11.com. The delivery system is complicated and risky. This paper are explores the structure of logistic for store-to-store delivery service for electronic commerce and develops a hierarchical framework and evaluation model to evaluate the logistics vulnerability of two store-to-store delivery service providers in Taiwan. With the results of the most vulnerable parts in store-to-store delivery system, managers could add resources and formulate strategies to strengthen them and reduce the frequency of the events that have higher failure probabilities.
