Abstract: The modeling of complex 3D details is a time-consuming task and need enough experience. In this paper, an effectual algorithm is proposed to transfer and reuse 3D geometrical details with cubic B-spline wavelet. Firstly any kind of surfaces both from the source model and the destination one are represented with cubic B-spline wavelet, and then they are decomposed into a base shape and several hierarchies of details. Since both models share the same basis of wavelet, they can be combined into one model in different hierarchies. Hereby the details are transferred onto the new 3D models. Later experiment shows that this technology can obtain desired resultant models.

Abstract: The conventional modal methods become inefficient when expanded to the high frequency region. This leads to a large number of degrees of freedom (DOF) even for one-dimension structures. Meanwhile, a short computational time is also the requirement of on-line structural health monitoring. This paper presented an application of B-spline wavelet on interval (BSWI) finite element for one-dimension elastic wave propagation problems. By using central difference method in time domain, numerical results involving wave propagations in crack free rod and beam were obtained and compared with results calculated by classical finite element method. Numerical examples validated the good performance of BSWI. BSWI could provide a accurate and efficient solution for wave propagation problems. The proposed method provides a good reference for structural health monitoring.

Abstract: A multiresolution approach is presented for NURBS curve fairing based on nonuniform semiorthogonal B-spline wavelets built. This method provides greater flexibility and applicability than uniform B-spline wavelets for multiresolution curve fairing. An example is presented to validate effectiveness of this multiresolution fairing method. Furthermore, the algorithm can be easily applied to NURBS curves in three dimensions as well as in two.
