Abstract: This paper researched application of Canny algorithm on the color separation of golden image , to generate a separated golden image plate base on the extraction of golden area, so as to get the effect more closer to the real metallic. Canny algorithm is based on the gray-scale image segmentation algorithm. The image is mapped from RGB to Lab color space. According to the color attributes of b, the golden target regions are extracted using Canny algorithm. But it’s difficult to get the closed target boundary outlet by Canny algorithm, so this paper modified image segmentation algorithm. Firstly, the image is filtered by Canny operator; secondly, small areas on the Canny processed image are removed by using some pre-determined threshold value.; then processed the image through using smoothing and sharping method so to make inner area of image more smooth meanwhile improving boundary sharpness. The experimental results showed that the method based on Canny operator is very suitable for golden area extraction from a image. The golden target-regions can be closed boundary outlet, which makes the golden areas are more accurate and continuous.

Abstract: In order to solve the difficulty of low contrast feature extracting between labeled features and background, a new method combined the Hough transform and Canny algorithm is put forward for tensile test using the video extensometer, and a new algorithm edge detection is also obtained based on Canny an feature region tracking as well. The algorithm has proved to be a high positioning accuracy and computational efficiency in the test.

Abstract: In order to improve the accuracy of detecting lane for automatic vehicle driving, a method for detecting the straight part of Lane is proposed, which is the Multi-Scale Hough transform method for lane detection based on the algorithm of Otsu and Canny. First of all, by the methods of Otsu to segment image and use the morphology operation of erode and dilate to wipe off the information of roadside trees and fences to strengthen the road boundary characteristics.Then the lane edge and feature is gained by the canny operator. At last, using Standard Hough Transform, Progressiveness Probabilities Hough Transform and Multi-Scale Hough Transform complete the detection of lane’s straight part. The experimental results show that, Multi-Scale Hough Transform method can accurately detect the lane line and provide the reliable basis for the path planning, automatic follow-up vehicle driving and lane departure warning.

Abstract: Edge detection that is an important means to realize image segmentation has important application significance in image processing, industrial detection, artificial intelligence and the target recognition field. As the demand for real-time and rapidity in image processing, the embedded image processing technology has been widely applied. But the realization of real-time edge detection for image requires a large amount of data processing, limited system resources of embedded system is the main reason of the embedded image processing technology development. In order to shorten time embedded systems edge detection processing large amounts of data, based on adaptive threshold Canny algorithm, this paper as the FPGA data processing DSP chips and made a FPGA + DSP hardware architecture, effectively improve the system real-time, get a good edge detection results.

Abstract: The tongue diagnosis is an important diagnostic method in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Human tongue is one of the im­portant organs which contain the information of health status. Image segmentation has always been a fundamental problem and complex task in the field of image processing and computer vision. Its goal is to change the representation of an image into something that is more meaningful and easier to analyze. In other words, it is used to partition a given image into several parts in each of which the intensity is homogeneous. In order to achieve an automatic tongue diagnostic system, an effective segmentation me­thod for detecting the edge of tongue is very important. We mainly compare the Chan Vese Method and Canny algorithm for edge segmentation. The segmentation using Canny algorithm may produce many false edges after cutting; thus, it is not suitable for use. But, for our two steps Chan Vese method can automatically select the best edge information. Therefore, it may be useful in clinical automated tongue diagnosis system. Experiments show the results of these techniques.

Abstract: Vision-based gesturerecognition is a key technique to achieve a new generation of human-computerinteraction. As few text input search system by gesture recognition isdeveloped, based on the existing gesture recognition techniques, we use thegestures which are corresponding to the Chinese letters and numbers as inputgesture and use Microsoft kinect to obtain depth image to conduct hand gesturesegmentation. First, the edge of the gesture is extracted by Canny algorithm,and then the feature is extracted based on wavelet moment. Finally the gestureletters are obtained. Achieved the text input system based on gesturerecognition. Experiments show that the system is able to achieve Chinesecharacters accurately and effectively.

Abstract: Image edge detection technology which is applied to the hydrophobic grade discrimination of composite insulator is of great significance. How to accurately detect the edge of the water droplets is very important in the process of automatic identification of composite insulator hydrophobicity. This paper detects composite insulator hydrophobic image edge with image edge detection technology. Firstly, adaptive histogram equalization technique is used to enhance image, reducing the similarity of target and background which is caused by the transparency of water. Then the paper uses the improved Canny algorithm which is introduced Ostu threshold method to detect the image edge. The experimental results show that the improved algorithm can accurately acquire the water droplets edge of composite insulator surface, which can lay a foundation for automatic discrimination of composite insulator hydrophobic grade.

Abstract: Traditional Canny edge detection algorithm uses a global threshold selection method, when large changes are in the background of the image and the target gray, global threshold method may lose some local edge information. For this problem, this paper therefore proposes an adaptive dynamic threshold improved Canny edge detection algorithm. The method uses image gradient variance as the criterion of the image block according to the four forks tree principle, then uses the Otsu method to get the corresponding sub-block threshold value for each sub-block, and obtains threshold value matrix by interpolation, finally, gets image edge with improved edge connected algorithm. Experimental results show that, the algorithm not only has good anti-noise performance, but also better detection accuracy.

Abstract: Millimeter-wave (MMW) radiometric imaging system is widely used in the field of military and civil affairs. It can be used to detect concealed objects hidden under clothing. Based on MMW radiation imaging method and morphology theory, we presented a complex morphology filter to do the image pretreatment. Then used the Canny operator to extract features from concealed objects. The results show that the morphology algorithm can improve the quality of radiometric images. Meanwhile, Canny algorithm can detect the edges of object well.
