Abstract: Aimed at the puzzle of heterogeneous system integration for collaborative product development, this paper proposed a support system for product collaborative development based on UDDI. In the paper, it explored the resource discovery and description mechanism based on UDDI, and discussed the service integration mechanism based on the extended unified description, discovery and integrated protocol. The research adopted the technologies such as SOA, Web service and so on, and finally it made a typical application example, and verified the practicability and effectiveness of the pattern and method mentioned above. And it can promote the rapidity share and high efficiency utilization of product collaborative development software system.

Abstract: The process of Collaborative Product Development (CPD) comprises highly creative and knowledge-intensive tasks that involve extensive information exchange and communication among distributed teams. Traditional information management systems fail to provide adequate capability to support CPD, due to their inflexible data structures and hard-wired usage procedures, as well as their restricted ability to integrate process and product information. An ontology-based method of knowledge management is proposed to support CPD. The key idea hiding in the method is a flexible ontology-based schema with formally defined semantics that enables the capture and reuse of design knowledge. A part of CPD-oriented ontology library represented by UML is displayed.

Abstract: . Successful collaborative product development depends on the ability to effectively manage and share engineering knowledge and experience throughout the entire development process. This paper presents a distributed heterogeneous engineering knowledge management approach for the practice of collaborative product design. Firstly, a XTM based heterogeneous knowledge integration model in collaborative product design is proposed; Then, a knowledge management framework in collaborative design process is developed; Finally, a knowledge management system in collaborative design is constructed.

Abstract: Designers need to reuse relevant knowledge types to make important decisions. These decisions are based not only on experience, but also on key knowledge global partners. A methodology to support information-knowledge management for global collaboration using DFX, PDM and Expert System tools is proposed. This new approach shows a manner to provide information from each stage of the product lifecycle to the designers through a PDM system. In addition, it includes a manner to store and share the knowledge created during the DFX process using an Expert System. This methodology provides integration to product realization technologies while supporting design stage in a collaborative environment when a large amount of information and knowledge to get a decision is required. The new approach implemented provides important benefits such as launching time and cost reduction, increased efficiency of designers and product innovation.

Abstract: Collaborative Product Development (CPD) is an advanced paradigm for product development, which focuses on facilitating the business collaboration across organizational boundaries. The process of CPD is highly dynamic, and needs to be implemented jointly by participant organizations. Firstly, this paper analyzes some traditional workflow modeling methods, and reviews related research work on workflow modeling for CPD. Secondly, a process-view and Petri nets combined approach is highlighted. At last, a novel process management framework is proposed, which provides an effective and universal way to manage the dynamic and distributed process of CPD.
