Abstract: The goal of this paper is to examine industrial applications for semi-solid castings, and to develop strategies necessary for the wider commercialization of the semi-solid casting process. The performance and production techniques of semi-solid castings are reviewed, with the goal of identifying commercial niches where semi-solid castings can provide clear benefits over other casting process. A comparison of mechanical properties between semi-solid castings and other casting processes is presented. In addition, this paper provides an evaluation of the features of the optimal semi-solid casting processes, examines the characteristics of components that would benefit for production by semi-solid casting and describe the types of quality systems that casters need to have in place to make these types of castings. Cost analyses are presented suggesting that rheocasting can complete well with other casting processes.

Abstract: With the enhancement of environmental protection consciousness, people pay increasingly attention to sustainable design all over the world recent years. Sustainable design is still in the early stage in China. Applying it in commercial operation is more helpful to promote sustainability in society. According to the survey, young people have strong environmental awareness relatively. There’re already many corporations have used sustainable idea in design for youth products successfully. This paper presents that sustainable design need to consider fully about the relationship among people, environment and economic. Abstract: Nanostructured metals hold the potential to significantly augment the product portfolios of the metals industry. This potential is being progressively developed through contributions from the academic community to the underlying science of nanostructuring, increasing development and protection of intellectual property, and the involvement of large corporations. In this paper we review the trends and status of the commercialization of nanostructured metals technology, focusing on metals produced by severe plastic deformation.
