Abstract: Renewable energy is an ideal source of power, with advantages such as low pollution, low energy consumption, sustainability, and an inexhaustible supply of energy. The method of importance-performance analysis (IPA) is frequently applied to measure satisfaction and to improve competitive strategies. In this study, we perform a complete analysis of the operational performance of Taiwanese renewable energy industries. A wind power company was recruited as a case study, and IPA was employed to survey and evaluate the company’s competitive performance. Subsequently, the results were used as a guide to improve the performance of the company.

Abstract: This paper attempts to employ the matrix of Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats (SWOT) to establish an evaluative index system for software enterprises in Jilin Province. The SWOT analysis is performed in combination with the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to determine the relative weights of various criteria in the analytic hierarchy as they are related to the overarching goal. The ultimate assessment of the developmental status of those provincial IT enterprises from the local (departmental/segmental) to the global (corporate/industrial) level will then be derived by applying a fuzzy comprehensive evaluation matrix in accordance with the principle of maximum associations. This approach promises to overcome drawbacks commonly found in conventional hierarchical analyses, where frequent adjustments and tests are often required to make results from judgmental matrix consistent. Examples with concrete analytic results have shown that this innovative, synthetic method is of promising guiding significance to corporate strategic formulations.

Abstract: For an enterprise to survive in a rapid business environment, the enterprise is required to develop core competencies through the understanding of its competitive advantage. In this study, Porter’s five forces were used as factors to evaluate competiveness while importance-performance analysis (IPA) was used as an assessment framework to evaluate the production competitiveness. An manufacturing enterprise is examined to identify its advantages and disadvantages to facilitate an appropriate competitive strategy.

Abstract: In such competitive industry environment, if the companies will obtain continuous profits, they must surpass their competitors and enhance their enterprise competitiveness in order to win further customer orders. As to understand the market competitive conditions, Simultaneous Importance-Performance Analysis (SIPA) is able to provide simultaneous analysis of three fundamental concepts – the importance of the competitive character, the performance and the performance of the competitors. This study is based on the electronic materials manufacturing companies in Taiwan. Fourteen items from Order-winners and Qualifiers Criteria as the character assessment are taken for the case analysis of the company and its competitors’ competitive conditions and strategies.

Abstract: The IT capabilities driven model and the IT capabilities evolutionary model which based on the integration of competitive strategy, resource based view and dynamic capabilities view are built. This driven model studies the improvement and affects of IT capabilities for performance and core competencies. The driven model explains the process of IT capabilities which includes the classifications of IT capabilities, the external environment chances and threat, induction and feedback, integration and reconstruction of resources, the strategy fit and integration. The IT capabilities evolutionary model is abstracted from the process of driven model, and it explains the IT capabilities evolve into new IT capabilities after a cyclic process of old IT capabilities effects. The two models also build a structure of IT capabilities which can be used in assessing the enterprise IT capability system.

Abstract: Demand for air transportation has boomed extensively in Southeast (SE) Asia during the past decade as a result of economic development and the lack of land routes between destinations. The purpose of this study is to focus on the cost-leadership competitive strategy applied by low-cost carriers (LCCs) in SE Asia airlines and explore the elements that affect the competing capability of these airlines in the region. Furthermore, the study attempts to illustrate the key success factors that have resulted in the superiority of AirAsia (AA) airline among other LCCs airlines in the competitive market of SE Asia. The research shows that the regulatory environment in the regions air transportation business is an important barrier for the development of local LCCs airlines. Hence, AA attempts to cope with these barriers have been illustrated in this research.

Abstract: Analysis of model shows that technology innovation provides photovoltaic product additional value, increases photovoltaic product differentiation and reduces consumers price sensitivity, but enterprise profit is decided by the efficiency of technology innovation, only the high efficiency of technology innovation can increase enterprise competence. Finally, the paper gives the strategy advices on technology innovation of photovoltaic enterprise.

Abstract: This paper aims to investigate the relationship among business strategies and business performance in global and local manufacturing companies. The research is based an International Manufacturing Strategy Survey (IMSS2005) of about 700 companies from more than 20 countries. We first proposed a new method to construct a generic measure of business performance from the available performance measures in IMSS. Based on this new measure we developed a simple discriminant analysis to allocate each entry (company in the IMSS) into a particular category of business performance. Of course we performed some statistical tests to confirm the validity of this classification. We then analysed the contribution (importance) of various environmental and competitive variables to each category of the generic business performance in order to identify the most influential variables and notice of their difference among different business performances. This was done intuitively using graphical analysis, but we also carried out statistical tests to confirm that companies at different performance levels do operate at different environments and pay different attentions to competitive strategies. The models we developed are simple but novel and very practical. The results showed significant differences among business performances in terms of influential variables, and we conclude that this method can also be used to analyse other part of the data from the IMSS.
