Abstract: On the basis of compliant polishing device for aspheric, a new method of bonnet polishing on magneto-rheological of torque servo driver has been proposed. It has introduced the bonnet polishing composition and polishing principle. Polishing tool using the flexible bonnet, it can better adapt to the different curvature change of parts, and the stable polishing force can be get through MRT. Combining the constant torque device on MRF with CNC machine, this embodies high rigidity, higher precision of NC machine and reflects the MRT with adjustable, controllable, rapid response characteristics. The formulae of stress and relative velocity of polishing are deduced, and the material removal rate model has been set up. The experimental results show that this new method of bonnet polishing can provide stable polishing force, and the model is correct, has good prediction ability.

Abstract: By the hybrid movement/force control policy, machining force could be controlled in aspheric surface polishing. However, the controller could not eliminate and restrain the errors of position and pose which would disturb the force controll consequentially in real system. In this paper, an angle is defined to express all the errors of position and pose for aspheric surface polishing, and the errors are modeled for machining force controll. By detecting this angle, the errors of position and pose could be used by the system controller to eliminate the disturbance in hybrid movement/force controll system and compensate feed movement controll in aspheric surface polishing. Simulation shows that the model could effectively express the errors of position and pose .

Abstract: Generally, aspheric surfaces require extra high accuracy and roughness and need to be polished further after being shaped. Because the interaction between tool and work-piece in polishing process is compliant, rather than the kind of rigid cutting, the machining quality and machining process are closely allied to the physical properties of the work-piece material. A new three-degree-of-freedom hybrid position/force servo polishing system, which is based on universal CNC Lathe, is developed, and the effect of work-piece materials on the polishing process and processing quality of aspheric surfaces is studied after aspheric parts are compliantly polished in accordance with the Preston removal regulation in this paper.

Abstract: The tool position based on the general interpolation arithmetic will make sharp changes which bring a harmful influence to the mixed control of pose and position as well as the normal force in grinding process. In this paper, a new type of shape-adaptive tool is proposed for the common NC lathe. The effective of shape-adaptive and the stability of polishing force is studied utilizing the dynamic analysis software ADAMS, at the same time, the structural is optimized. The simulation outcome indicates that the tool could both adapt to the surface of workpiece and remove the influence brought by interpolation arithmetic.
