Abstract: Along with the development of economy and the improvement of the people’s living standard, the requirements of people on the ceramic products have been proven to be increasingly higher, but simultaneously the pressure on the ceramic industry is greatly increased. On the basis of the development of the ceramic industry, it is necessary to pay attention to the real life, absorb the new thoughts, new ideas, and new techniques of the high technologies of the modern times, follow the road of combining the modern science and technology, and ultimately create a new pattern for the ceramic industry.

Abstract: This paper presents an integrated approach for denture (dental prosthesis) manufacturing process by integrating information from patient denture requirement, design flow and manufacturing activities. The aim is to produce a removable complete denture with high degree of precision, good quality of denture and rapid fabrication process. The method includes data acquisition, design process and teeth assembly of the denture that reduces the dependency on experienced craftsmen and reduces the time consumption in denture processing chain. The system also aims to reduce patient visiting times and consequently reduces the expenses. The basic system has been developed at the Faculty of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, UTHM with the cooperation of the School of Dental Sciences, USM and Klinik Pergigian Batu Pahat, Johor. By implementing the integrated system, denture can be produced using centralize manufacturing facilities of several dental clinics and provide denture replacement services which can be delivered in 24hrs. Although the basic system has been tested and found very satisfactory result, there are development works and improvements are still needed in order for the system ready for commercialization.

Abstract: This study explored a method for CAD of removable partial denture (RPD) framework, which contributes to the development of a specialized software system used in restorative dentistry. Point cloud data of a mandibular partially edentulous cast was captured by an optical scanning system with projective grating and high-resolution digital camera. The 3D model of the cast was rebuilt by a CAD software system from the 3D cloud points. Based on the principle of clinical design, the digital survey line and inserting path were determined automaticly. The tissue surfaces and polishing surfaces of every component of RPD were built also by the CAD software. Furthermore, the characteristic structures of the framework including the lingual bar, the internal and external finish lines, the tissue stop were fabricated on the base of the rebuilt model. 3D surface model of the RPD framework was created at last. In this study, geometric model of the RPD framework was fabricated successfully, which took on good fitting, high visibility and easy to modify, and the data converted to STL format that could be read by any other CAD/CAM software system was in preparation for subsequent computer aided manufacture (CAM) of RPD framework.

Abstract: The inherent design freedom promoted by the employment of thermoplastic profiles is one of the major reasons for their attractiveness. Theoretically, thermoplastic profiles can be produced with any cross section suited for a specific application. The design of the corresponding extrusion dies usually employ a methodology based on experimental trial-and-error approaches, being highly dependent on the experience of the designer and highly demanding in terms of resources. These difficulties are obviously more evident when the plastic profile has a complex geometry. This research team is involved since the mid-nineties on the development of computational tools to aid the design of thermoplastic profile extrusion dies. Initially, the numerical code employed was based on structured meshes that limited its use to simple geometries. In this work, a numerical modelling code developed to work with unstructured meshes is described and employed in a case study involving the design of a extrusion die for the production of complex cross section profile. The results obtained show that the developed code can be a useful tool to aid the design of complex profile extrusion dies.

Abstract: This article introduces parameterized drawing technology on complete film evaporators by the classification of parameterized drawing strategy. And by sample of film evaporators parts graph drawing process, parametric parts prints and the assembly drawing strategy in detail. Development of aided design software of film evaporators would help users realize integration design of process design, and can greatly shorten the development cycle of the products, improve the design quality and enhance the competitiveness of their products.

Abstract: The important of Reverse Engineering (RE) and Rapid Prototyping (RP) process in the automotive sector has made the knowledge of its operation vital to engineers and designers. The purpose of this research is to apply and implement the RE and RP process and also integrate advance quality tools in the development of automotive components. The advance quality tools that been implemented are Quality Function Deployment (QFD) and Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA). To produce the final products, a machine that works under Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) principle is used. A manual window crank as the automotive component has been selected as the product for this paper and application. Before continuing the fabrication of product, the design improvement of the target product to a better product level is done through the QFD and FMEA as the advance quality tools. The analysis from QFD and FMEA tool is then translated into the design and product development.

Abstract: We have carried out first-principles calculations to study the lattice constants, elastic constants and some fundamental electronic properties of lanthanum hexaboride under different pressures. The calculated bulk modulus and lattice constant are in agreement with previous theoretical results. The elastic constants increase with applied pressure increasing. LaB6 can retain its stability up to 5GPa. The valence band near Fermi energy is dominated by the La-5d band hybridized with the B-2p state, with small contributions of the La-s, p states. Our results are compared with some experiments and discussed in light of previous theoretical investigations.

Abstract: With the development of science and technology, especially the development of computer technology, visual technology on the base of digital image processing technology provides the means of observation for the medical objective. On the other hand, the computer aided design and computer aided manufacturing which are widely used in mechanical processing industry provide the effective method for complex shape precision machined. This image recognition software is designed mainly aimed at conformal lead mould CAD/CAM system, and it is the part of the system. The result of the final implementation is that target area edge data is outlined in a single pixel extracted from the form and is stored in the form of text style file.

Abstract: A first-principles study of LaB6 and NdB6 has been done in order to investigate their lattice constants, cell volumes, electronic structures and optical properties. Our electronic structure calculations show that the hybridizing of the Nd-p, d bands and the B-s, p states may be the main reason that NdB6 can retain its stability under ambient conditions. The DOS at EF are 0.94 and 13.70 for LaB6 and NdB6, respectively. The corresponding electronic specific heats are also obtained. Besides, the computed static reflectivities are 0.25 and 0.74 for LaB6 and NdB6, respectively. The calculated results are in good agreement with the theoretical results, although the static reflectivity of LaB6 is not consistent with the static reflectivity given in Ref. [3].
