Abstract: The size selection of cables is not only to avoid the excessive heating and the danger of fire, but also to insure the service and the reliability of the concerned electric circuit. In the context of the dimension of the cables, some standards should be observed and necessary calculations should be done. With the requirement of the worldwide expansion application on Internet, the approach and the architecture of a complete Web-aided design platform are proposed for dimensioning the cables. The platform supports some calculation methods which are necessary for selecting the cables. Both XML documents and databases are used to interchange power system data and calculation results between Web servers and clients.

Abstract: In this study, SPICE program is applied to design micro fluidic circuits based on the analogical relationship with MOSFET models for the first time. A SPICE model of pneumatic-FET is established to express the behavior of them in micro fluidic circuits. Construction of pneumatic-FET model, its optimization, and effectiveness in circuit design and comparison are discussed in the later sections.

Abstract: Boiler is one of the key industrial equipment in the field of modern manufacture. Rule-base reasoning (RBR) and case-base reasoning (CBR) are first applied to the boiler conceptual design. The RBR is adopted to perform like a “sieve” for the acquisition of the candidate structure modules. Then the CBR process is adopted for the structure module modification and case retain. The case retain process gives the system self-enrich function which will improve the design ability of the system with the continuous use of the system.

Abstract: At present the capacity for computer aided color design both at home and abroad is relatively weak. The paper studies one aspect of it, that is, the objective assessment of computer aided color design. It takes color matching schemes of cockpit information display as an example to carry out the experiment of assessment. The experiment mainly deals with the assessment of the color matching schemes of the primary flight display. Four-dimensional assessment indicators are used to evaluate the quickness of information recognition for pilots, through which the order of excellence of the color matching schemes is achieved. Based on the findings of the experiment, the article proposes the generalized model framework for the assessment of CACD. The framework has four parts. Color design of human-computer interface of the prototype product; the application of computer software to the design of color schemes; Computer aided assessment on color design, including experiment design, the application of computer programming to carrying out the simulated experiment which is based on the prototype and the application of computer software to statistical analaysis of the data collected; Objective assessment on the color design schemes. This framework can give an objective description of the color design, which can be applied to various products. However, different products should design different experiments. This framework provides new references for the study in the field of the CACD.

Abstract: Composite materials have become a popular material substitution for automotive, sports, medical, aerospace and other engineering fields due to their light-weight, high strength and/or stiffness of fibres. In this paper, a conceptual design approach has been presented to develop aluminium metal matrix composite (AMC) automotive brake rotor system. A systematic and stepby- step approach of full design is shown for better understanding of the design concept of automotive brake rotor. The methodology of conceptual stage, computer aided design (CAD) and evaluation systems are discussed for illustrating and selecting the best concept. A total of six (6) concepts for both surface rejuvenates feature and ventilated cooling fins are explained. It was found that the Concept 6 for surface rejuvenates feature and Concept 1 for ventilated cooling fins are the best combination for aluminium metal matrix composite brake rotor application.

Abstract: Defining and generating a working drawing of a conical spur gear to replace an original piece requires geometrical and dimensional constraints, especially when the cutting module is determined by reverse engineering. We propose an approach using Computer aided design (CAD) to establish the drawing definitions and to verify the assembly of the conical spur gear. We have developed the model drawing according to the standard International Standard Organisation (ISO), in which we introduce a new non-existent coast into the current dimensioning and check the assembly using the Tredgold method, which transforms a conical spur gear into a model cylindrical spur gear, to which the equations for parallel cylindrical gearing can be applied. This method determines a good estimate if the couple of gear verifies the specified geometrical conditions of assemblies. We present the developed algorithms, as well as the results of applications of various programs.

Abstract: Contemporary computed tomography (CT) technology offers the better potential of screening for the early detection of lung cancer than the traditional x-ray chest radiographs. In order to help improve radiologists’ diagnostic performance and efficiency, many researchers propose to develop computer-aided detection and diagnosis (CAD) system for the detection and characterization of lung nodules depicted on CT images and to evaluate its potentially clinical utility in assisting radiologists. Based on review of computer-aided detection and diagnosis of lung nodules using CT at home and abroad in recent years, this paper presented a new algorithm that achieves an automated way for applying multi-scale nodule enhancement, mathematical morphology and morphological Segmentation.

Abstract: This paper presents a new scheme for BCD multiplication. This new scheme features a completely carry-free multiplication. The parallel structure of the new algorithm is investigated. This fast architecture was derived by looking at multiplication in a fresh perspective. A carry is able to be computed without performing multiplication on any of the previous bits. The new approach is expected to have a lot of potential contributions to digital design.
