Abstract: Inorder to analyze the influence of the grinding wheel parameters on the spiralgroove parameters in the grinding process of spiral groove, this paper analyses indetail the influence of grinding wheel radius, fillet radius and grinding wheelcone angle on the rake angle and the opening angle of the spiral groove basedon the spiral groove mathematical model of the end mill. And two polynomial werefitted between the grinding wheel fillet and the rake angle of spiral groove. Studieshave shown that: when the wheel attitude angle remains unchanged, the fillet ofgrinding wheel influence the rake angleand opening angle of spiral groove significantly; the cone angle of grindingwheel affects the opening angle largely; the radius and cone angle of grindingwheel have the weak influence on the rake angle of spiral groove.

Abstract: The Sauter Mean Diameter (SMD) and spray cone angle are two important parameters that characterize spray performance. The objective of this study is to characterize palm olein/diesel blends spray in terms of spray angle and SMD under different injection pressures using a hollow cone pressure swirl atomizer. The physical properties of five diesel/palm olein blends, namely B5, B10, B15, B20 and B25 were measured and their spray characteristics were tested at injection pressures of 0.8MPa, 1.0MPa, and 1.2MPa under ambient atmospheric condition. The results were compared to spray established using petroleum diesel fuel. The SMD was measured using a phase Doppler analyzer (PDA). The spray cone angle was visualized using a digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) camera. The results indicated that petroleum diesel fuel had the widest cone angle followed by B5, B10, B15, B20 and B25 under the same injection pressure. Additionally, when the injection pressure increases from 0.8MPa to 1.2MPa, the spray cone angle widen accordingly. It is concluded that high content of palm olein in the palm biofuel blends increases viscosity and surface tension and hence higher value of SMD and narrower spray cone angle was generated. An increase in injection pressure resulted in smaller droplet SMD and wider spray cone angle.

Abstract: In order to get a high drilling speed of shaft of nearly 13 m diameter, the authers studied on the shape of the cutter head, particularly about the cone angle. The paper discussed the motion process of slurry of drilling shaft, analysed the forces on the cutter head, and the forces on the cuttings and the motions of the cuttings in slurry. The results show that, the cone angle of the cutter head can be minished at least 20 degree.

Abstract: Glass target belongs to brittle target.In order to make use of PVC to enhance defensible performance of glass, combining glass and PVC for a target is considered in this paper. On the basis of experiment, fragmentation of glass faceplate is two adding cones. The relation of the fragmentation shape and thickness of glass is, analysed.So we can make the conclusion that the glass is thicker, the radial cracks and annulus cracks are denser.If it is applied to defend the structure, the better effect of defensible performance is testified when the more energy is absorbed.

Abstract: Aiming at micro machining of 3D microstructure of brittle materials with a novel tiny-grinding wheel based on the electro-magneto-rheological (EMR) effect, five conical tools with different cone angles are designed to reveal the effect of the cone angle on the machining characteristics. The distribution of the magnetic and electric fields in the polishing area is simulated using the finite element analysis software, and the machining experiments of micro groove were conducted to confirm the simulation results. Experimental results indicate that the material removal rate increases first and decreases afterwards with the increase of the cone angle, and the section width of micro groove increases but the section depth of micro groove shows a fluctuation phenomenon within a certain range. The intensities of the electric and magnetic fields on the tip of the conical tool with the 45° cone angle are at a larger level in the five tools, which is helpful to form a stable tiny-grinding wheel based on the EMR effect and obtain a better machining effect, so the tool with the 45° cone angle is an effective and ideal machining tool for the machining of 3D microstructure.
