Abstract: The landscape spaces of Qijiang ancient town take on special combined characteristics of contrary space sequence. The space configurations are unique and diversiform, particular about the whole harmony between inner and outer environments, human and space. The space-time configurations reflect ordered, blending and continuous in inner and outer landscape spaces. The contrary space configurations experienced more than 2000-year historic evolutions. The landscape spaces have extended continuously and reasonably complying with the combined characteristics of contrary space sequences. But in the late of last century, a lot of the landscape spaces were destroyed. Analysis on the contrary space configurations and evolutions will help us to look for the relationships and rules of the original spaces, and supply references to recovering multidimensional and sustainable ancient environments spaces.

Abstract: Wanzhou area is located in the eastern city of Chongqing, in the Reservoir Area of Three Gorges Project. Is a typical mountain city surrounded by green hills and blue waters. The natural landscape and cultural landscape is very rich. With the development of city construction, as well as in the Three Gorges reservoir are put to use, the original landscape expression and effect will be affected. The original number of excellent visual corridor of landscape and landscape spatial are gradually disappearing, makes some landscape spatial continuity damage. We tried to use Contrary Space Sequence analysis method to Wanzhou area of the existing landscape composition analysis, so as to seek in the modern city construction how to pay great attention to the original excellent landscape spatial continuity and protection. Puts forward some constructive suggestions On modern city construction.

Abstract: The Qijiang historical town is a typical town of the settlement in central Sichuan, It's also the capital site of the ancient Qi country during the Spring and Autumn period. After thousands of years of evolution, it's still maintained a complete ancient space environment pattern now. The spatial form of historical town is simple and obvious, but the street space organization is in an orderly manner, yard surrounded close is flexible and ingenious, carrying an extremely rich intangible traditional culture and the historical heritage. Through to the summarizing and analyzing of the pace evolution characteristics of Qijiang historical towns, we can explore the historical landscape characteristics of the town and help to further study of the dependency relationship between material culture and intangible cultural in space environment. Especially to studying the formation and development of space of historical town and Qi Kingdom country. It's also can provide reference in protection and restoration of the historic, ecological and sustainable spatial forms of historical town .

Abstract: Qijiang ancient town is a famous historical and cultural town of Sichuan province with a history of over 2000 years. Most of the buildings in this ancient town were build in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties which are build by western Sichuan style. The street buildup by those buildings were very well protected. There is an 500-meter-long ancient block, containing 5 ancient stages and temples. There are 2 well-preserved stages so far. Qijiang ancient town follow the combination characteristics of contrary space sequence and contrary space behavior, its space form layout is rigorous. The outer space, inner space, inter living space, behaviour and time space are formed orderly. Today the town's space form layout is evolved in a long history and tourism economy developed. With the development of tourism economy, the traditional space pattern has already not adapt to the modern Qijiang town’s development. What make it worse is lack of a comprehensive guide, causing the ancient town’s traditional history and culture and traditional pattern face a new dilemma. From the point of the protection of traditional space pattern and traditional culture, this thesis aimed at Qijiang ancient town’s internal space form layout analysis and research as the key point, making space configuration optimize and adjust. In order to adapt to the development of modern Qijiang town. Provides an example of small towns’ residential environment construction development in China.

Abstract: The Zhaohua is an ancient city on the Chinese Sichuan Road with more than 2000 years glorious history, and still preserve completely city gates and city walls, and the streets and lanes until now. The environment landscape space of inside and outside of the city construct were in perfect order, which were comply with “Nature and humanity” layout idea, The spatial design of whole this city has the feature of the Contrary Space Sequence combination in growth of Chinese historic ancient city. However, the Zhaohua ancient city faced with the modern spatial pattern which grows in the historical evaluation, especially with continuous exploitation of the ancient city combines with tourism economy, a problem that the space demand between residents and tourists must be arise. In the foundation of the effective protection of traditional space culture, we put forward and research to carry on space form optimization and adjustment to border space and street space, in order to meet the modern urbanization development needs, meanwhile, it has extremely important research significance to the ancient cities’ protection and the reasonable tourism development.

The research of the contrary space sequence inherits this town landscape space building method, Carries forward the sustainable development idea of the traditional town construction, and applied to some present small towns and new rural planning, design and construction properly, to provide valuable reference for build a town or a new village with the true harmony between humans and natural world and a beautiful natural environment.

Through research of the unique constitute of space of historical and cultural towns to explore the potential spatial culture of sustainable development in history. In history ,that many towns depend on the existence of external environment landscape space first, limited and influenced the composing of internal landscape space, then form the landscape space of inside and outside towns to continue harmonious the space structure of combination and the sequence. The contrary space sequence has its own organic composition and rules of space that was order and correlation but not exists alone. It is a greater significance and application value to use this principle to guide the formation of new space and followed its growth pattern for the ancient town's transformation and development and for pioneering the new city space and landscape gardens and urban green space layout.
