Abstract: An algorithm is proposed to weave curve network on the multi-line contour, which refers to analysis and design of algorithms in computational geometry and uses convex hull to construct network on the surface of multi-line contour. First of all, with the incremental algorithm, a convex hull of point set, composed of the first and the last point of the feature line segment, is constructed. Then, by using the mapping from convex hull to fitting surface, an initial network is formed which meets the rules of the two-dimensional manifold. At last, a two-dimensional manifold network of feature curves is acquired by modifying connection of the curve network on the multi-line contour. In conclusion, the algorithm this paper put forward is intuitive, concise and easy to be implemented, and the woven curve network can precisely reflect the shape and the topology of the multi-line contour.

Abstract: A simple and effective combined subdivision surface’s modification method is proposed, which is realized by editing its curve network locally. After discussing the overlapping principles of Catmull-Clark subdivision and combined subdivision, a quick update method of the modified surface is given by building the difference curve network from the original curve network and the edited curve network and overlapping the mesh from the difference curve network to the mesh from the original curve network. This method is closely related with the features of combined subdivision, so it is simple and high efficiency. It is useful in the concept design of complex product.

Abstract: An optimization method based on genetic algorithm and energy method is presented to construct a fairing curve network from unconnected sectional curves. The curve’s quality is evaluated by its energy. The parameters of the intersecting points on existing curves are adopted as variable and genetic algorithm is used to optimize the energy of curve based on multi-parent crossover operator. The examples show that the interpolated surface of optimized curve network has good quality than other methods, which proves our method actually improves curve networks’ quality.
