Abstract: Due to the rapid development of aerospace industry, the amount of cutting data is increasing. Establishing cutting database for aerospace industry is necessary. Therefore, this article designs the typical aerospace material database system. According to project requirements analysis and the conceptual design, nine function blocks is set. They are data management, experiment management, optimization management, cutting tool design, cutting tool simulation, knowledge base, aerospace solutions, systems management, and help. And the article describes content and processes of every function block.

Abstract: Cutting database; Image processing; Large cylinder section; Tool life evaluationAbstract. This paper builds the optimization database system of cutting parameters for large cylinder section. The system is based on Browser/Server mode (B/S). The system can optimize cutting parameters, store knowledge, query information, maintain system, assess tool life and design tool. It completes the optimization of cutting parameters, according to the cutting parameters to design and evaluate the properties of cutting tools. It introduces tool life evaluation, data analysis and storage model. This paper also points out the method of tool life evaluation to achieve the collection of data of the tool cutting performance and the accurate and scientific evaluation of tool life.

Abstract: This article develops the design and evaluation function block of inserts on the basis of the optimization database system of cutting parameters for large cylinder section. The function block completes the development combining 3D graphics software called SolidWorks with programming language called VB. This article achieves the design and evaluation functions which are inserts shape selection, inserts parameter design, inserts geometric characteristics design and finite element simulation of inserts. Finally, this paper proves the reliability of the result which is achieved from the design and evaluation function block of inserts by comparing with traditional inserts.

Abstract: According to subject needs, this article considers both processing time and production costs as the objective function. And it gets the mathematical model of the system regarding cutting force, machine power, machining accuracy and tool life as constraints. The system is developed by Visual C++ 6.0 and SQL Server 2000. The database gets reasonable cutting parameters by Hybrid Reasoning. What’s more, the system optimizes the cutting parameters by using Artificial Bee Colony algorithm further. And the optimization results have been verified its correctness.

Abstract: Large cylindrical shell is typically difficult to machine parts, and the cutting process of the bulky cylindrical shell is complicated. Through the actual requirements and conceptual design, the paper establishes the heavy-duty optimized database system for difficult-to-cut materials in order to improve its surface quality and production efficiency. The system is completed by combining Visual C++ 6.0 and SQL Server 2000.This paper mainly describes the implementation process and related interfaces of the data optimization and heavy inserts design. The data from optimization and tool design function block are validated its reliability by experiments and simulations, which proves that the system can be used for actual production.

Abstract: Cutting process consists of many interaction parameters, the interrelationship of these parameters is developed, the cutting process database based on case and optimization is discussed. The cutting parameters are provided by means of the combination of case-based reasoning and optimization, the case database is established with experience, the cutting parameters are proposed, the optimization is applied when no information is in the case database, and the new data will be saved as a new case after it is verified by manufactured. The selection efficiency and precision of cutting parameters are improved by the means of case characteristics similarity calculation retrieval. The program is expansible in the way of open case storage.

Abstract: In this paper, the study is carried out on the milling parameters optimization and cutting database development of radar key parts in electronics industry. The method is proposed in detail on parameters optimization. The material removal rate is chosen as optimization objective. The cutting constraints include machining tool power, tool life, surface quality, deformation and strength of milling cutter and the chatter stability. The genetic algorithm is selected as global optimal method. At last, it presents the solutions of cutting database based on Web, which include general structure, basic function and entity relationship data model.

Abstract: According to the process characteristics of shell ring, the cutting parameters have been optimized by adopting appropriate boundary conditions at different machining stages and the optimal cutting parameters have been achieved. The objective function and constraints boundary have been stored into the database, which form basic data structures of database. Cutting parameters have been obtained for new type tools using rule-based reasoning approach. According to the characteristics of large number of changing tool for shell ring, tool life prediction is designed, which is very favorable for large shell ring processing. In addition, on-site processing recorded video will be added to the database by multi-media technology, which achieves the diversity of data structure.

Abstract: In the modern manufacturing of sophisticated parts with 3D sculptured surfaces, die/mold making operations are the most widely used machining processes to remove unwanted material. To manufacture a die or a mold, many different cutting tools are involved, from hole-drills to the smallest ball nose end mills. Since the specification of each tool is very different from each other, each die/mold is specific with their complicated shapes and many machining rules exist to consider, a great deal of expertise is needed in selecting cutting tools for the die/mold machining operations. An intelligent system developed by using case-based reasoning (CBR) technology for this purpose is described in the present work. The geometry of the workpiece, workpiece condition, and operation type are considered as input values and various recommendations about the tool material, tool type, tool specifications, and cutting parameters are provided.

Abstract: First, the problems in cutting database are analyzed and primary factors that should be considered in establishing high-speed cutting database are pointed out, including data presenting modes, data collecting and updating, the intelligence of the database, and the integration with CAD, CAPP and CAM. Secondly, high-speed cutting system is analyzed. On the basis of the categorization of the variables, the function model and the information model of cutting database are set up, which leads to the establishment of the architecture of high-speed cutting database. Finally, the combination mechanism of the rule-based reasoning and the case-based reasoning is analyzed and the process of the hybrid reasoning is given.
