Abstract: Cutting tools selection is a very important and time consuming activity in production systems. It influences parts quality, productivity and timing, therefore production cost. Computer-based approach is conditioned by programming structures and information concentrated in databases. This paper presents the basic architecture and relationships for a tool selection management system in turning processes, which is under development. Relational implementation defined by internal links, is highlighted. The system is constructed using macros and Microsoft Visual Basic. Considering input data provided by user, different solutions for machines, toolholders and indexable inserts are generated. The database is designed to support manufacturing requests.

Abstract: Design and deployment of the manufacturing processes are based on complex data concerning product development, process structures, planning, costs. Applications within the computer-based engineering are conditioned by the information system. Storage and use of specific data are concentrating in databases. The present contribution is on the development of basic elements for creation a database system on turning processes, usable in engineering activities. The main part presents the information model that provides neutral data interfaces system for machining processes. Implemented under Microsoft Visual Basic macros, this database system supports the integration of manufacturing requests. Based on stored information and initial data provided by user, the designed database system offers variants of technological elements. Structures and relationships are provided.

Abstract: Industry is one of the economy sector with an important impact over the environment, such as natural resources depletion, energy consumption, pollution etc. It is essential that engineering companies perform their research, design, implementation and exploitation activities in order to contribute to environmental preservation, and, in the same time, to be aware and use the sustainable developments that have already been achieved. The present main contributions are the revealing, critical analysis and characterization of case studies on sustainable solutions regarding different extraction, processing and power plants, as an important support for the completion of a new database system with eco-achievements from different fields.

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to develop a database for checking fixtures for automotive parts. The parts used in the fixture checking process were automotive parts such as clamper, stand and toggle. The goal of this project is to implement a database of checking fixtures parts. The project started with identifying the current problems that were faced by the designer at a design department, in a support service for automotive industries. Idle time has been the major problem that designer have to faced. All the data and information related to this project has been sought and explored in the literature review. Catia software is used as the CAD software to construct three-dimensional models for the design of all the parts in the parts library. All the parts are organized in three different sizes which are determined by the size of car body panel. Referring to the result, new libraries were developed and created using the Catia software to aid designers in the checking fixture design process. The validation of the new libraries had been conducted with the company’s design engineer to test the effectiveness, usability and relevancy. In summary, this database and method can potentially accelerate the checking fixtures design process to be faster and more efficient.

Abstract: For the purpose of obtaining the characteristic parameters of the asphalt mixture aggregate particles, a viable method using two-dimensional image was put forward in this paper. The automatic detection system of asphalt mixture aggregate characteristic parameters is developed based on VC++. A series of processing are done on the collected aggregate images, including image edge detection, image segmentation, morphological processing, region-labeling, contouring and so on .The region-labeling algorithm is improved ending with low complexity, high robustness. Database technology is used to deal with the storage, query of the results and several other operations. The whole system is characterized with perfect function, user-friendly interface and stable performance, which provides a practical and accurate method for the characteristic detection of asphalt mixture aggregate particles.

Abstract: Recent years, the studies on global climate change, local traditional knowledge (TK) – especially traditional ecological knowledge (TEK) have attracted a lot of attention. Local traditional knowledge can reflect the ethnic groups’ specific understandings of climate change and its impact. However, studies on the relationship between traditional knowledge and climate change have not achieved such significant result thus far. This paper examines the perspectives, knowledge, and classification of climate change based on local Tibetan traditional knowledge in Deqin County of Yunnan, China. It analyses the local actions how to “cope with” climate change, and further discusses the relationship between traditional knowledge and ecological environment. The suggestion to establish the database of climate change, then, there will be a new system if the database can be connected with TK database. From the new system, we can analyze and choose the appropriate farming practices and “climate-ready” crops to respond to different predicted weather.

Abstract: In a novel approach of task based conceptual design method by proper synthesis and analyzes tools mechanism and function entities are modified, turned into and considered as extendable and squeezable ones , so systemized search of optimal structural solutions inside those entities leads the designer to satisfaction of prior given set of functions. Conceptual design generation procedure includes task simplification phase where a key function (s) based mechanical model is composed and its further development into final concept requires gradual satisfaction of remained pre given functions. Two major sources of mechanical solutions are used for function satisfaction. First is existing knowledge on mechanism available as database and the second source is self-generation of mechanisms by granting DOF action, both procedures strictly implemented in a function targeted manner. The database itself is available in different formats depending on application, tutorial or systemizing purposes. Current study discloses the approaches and methods of modification of mechanisms from database into models and formats applicable and suitable for being used in proposed task based conceptual design method.

Abstract: The article describes the structure, architecture, principles of construction and operating modes of the computer software that simulates operators' workplaces of centrifuge uranium enrichment production. We have implemented the networking of computer simulator modules and equipment database. A computer simulator of the isotope separation plant of Siberian Chemical Plant OJSC has been created on the basis of the architecture developed. The main purpose of the simulator is to train the operating personnel for production process control in standard and emergency situations.

Abstract: A new similarity measurement standard is proposed, namely background similarity matching. Learning algorithm based on kernel function is utilized in the method for feature extraction and classification of face image. Meanwhile, a real-time video face recognition method is proposed, image binary algorithm in similarity calculation is introduced, and a video face recognition system is designed and implemented [1-2]. The system is provided with a camera to obtain face images, and face recognition is realized through image preprocessing, face detection and positioning, feature extraction, feature learning and matching. Design, image preprocessing, feature positioning and extraction, face recognition and other major technologies of face recognition systems are introduced in details. Lookup mode from top down is improved, thereby improving lookup accuracy and speed [3-4]. The experimental results showed that the method has high recognition rate. Higher recognition rate still can be obtained even for limited change images of face images and face gesture with slightly uneven illumination. Meanwhile, training speed and recognition speed of the method are very fast, thereby fully meeting real-time requirements of face recognition system [5]. The system has certain face recognition function and can well recognize front faces.

Abstract: With the development of database technology, there are many problems in the existing management systems of aircrafts’ portable ammunition which use traditional affairs database. The shortcomings of traditional database are analyzed firstly. To deal with these problems, a new ammunition management system based on data warehouse is proposed. The structure of the data warehouse is discussed in detail. The five steps of development and use of data warehouse in ammunition management system are then discussed. Finally, examples of ammunition supply are given.
