Abstract: The problem of uniaxial tension of a hollow cylinder made of a rigid-plastic material is considered. Within the framework of the theory of an ideal rigid-plastic body, this problem has many solutions. Based on the Strain-Energy Criteria of choosing the preferred solution, this problem can be solved unambiguously.

Abstract: The process of destruction of cylindrical samples under uniaxial tension is described taking into account changes in the geometry of the sample. An approach is formulated to determine the failure constants in the form of invariant characteristics based on standard mechanical tests under conditions of axisymmetric deformation.

Abstract: Shape multiformity and formation mechanism of shear band in normal consolidated soil were analyzed based on Modified Cam-Clay model under plane strain condition. The results proved that shear band forms because of impact action caused by strain energy releasing. End restraint and initial defect can induce and control the formation process and shape of shear band. The interaction of different boundary and initial defect settings was analyzed in order to obtain the mechanism and deformation process of shear band.

Abstract: The high temperature tensile experiments were carried out to investigate the superplasticity of Inconel 718 alloy by using the strain-reduced superplasticity deformation process based maximum m value method. The results indicate the fine and homogeneous grain structure of Inconel 718 alloy is obtained by hot forging, δ phase precipitation and recrystallization heat treatment process. The Inconel 718 alloy exhibits good superplasticity at a wide range of temperature from 950°C to 1020°C, and the best elongation of 566% appears at 950°C. It shows the excellent superplasticity of Inconel 718 alloy can be obtained with the strain-reduced superplasticity deformation process based maximum m value method.

Abstract: Magnetic fluid drag reduction which is based on the character of magnetic fluid by adhered magnetic fluid inside to the boundary surface of duct for fluctuating in synchronism with current flowing in order to make stiffness boundary surface replaced flexible boundary surface is introduced. The deformation process and flowing state of magnetic fluid coating is discussed and analysed. It is found that due to reflux in it, magnetic fluid could reduce drag only at the moment that the reflux volume of magnetic fluid is equal to the flowing volume of magnetic fluid while the thickness of magnetic fluid coated layer is appropriate.

Abstract: This paper describes experiments in which high purity aluminum (Al) and copper (Cu) single crystals of different crystallographic orientations were processed for one pass by equal-channel angular pressing (ECAP). The deformed structures were examined using optical microscopy (OM), orientation imaging microscopy (OIM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The results for Al single crystals are compared with those for Cu single crystals.
