Abstract: In this paper, we concentrate on the ontology-Based design knowledge modeling technologies for the construction machinery. For that, we study the ontology modeling theory, the representation of product design knowledge and the ontology modeling of design knowledge, etc. From the design knowledge management’s angle, design knowledge modeling approach is studied to support the design knowledge development, transfer and reuse for the construction machinery.

Abstract: In this paper, we established the methods to classify and represent the concept-design knowledge and developed an ontology-based model presenting the design knowledge as well as a model for modeling cycles. We further applied these methods and models to develop a specific ontology-based design knowledge model and validated them in the management system of design knowledge for the construction machinery.

Abstract: According to the diversity, dynamic and correlation of product design knowledge; this paper put forward a knowledge representation method for product design based on ontology. Established a knowledge unit with the core of concepts set, property set, knowledge set and function set, introduced input and output module, to realize the information transmission between knowledge units, and also lays a foundation for knowledge networks construction, intelligent and agile design. Finally, this paper take cylindrical spiral spring design for example, verified the effectiveness of this method.

Abstract: Reuse of existing design knowledge is the key to realize rapid product design. Analysis of present knowledge capture, representation and reuse method as well as study of static and dynamic knowledge capture method, the design template as a carrier for knowledge expression and reuse method is proposed. A typical instance for small agricultural machinery product is given to demonstrate the feasibility of the design approach.

Abstract: Complex product design is a knowledge-intensive process that involves various aspects of technical knowledge and experience. This paper contends that the conventional Product Data Management (PDM) system has some inherent limitations due to its original intention to manage processes and results, not to manage and reuse knowledge. Therefore, to overcome the shortage that knowledge cannot be discovered and reused effectively in PDM systems, a “Domain Ontology - Index Knowledge – Data Resource” (OKD) three-layer mapping model is proposed to organize DK. The key idea behind our approach is a flexible ontology-based schema that domain ontology is used as semantic model and index knowledge as data indexing to enable the capture and reuse of problem-solving knowledge to improve PDM’s performance. Finally, conclusion is made.

Abstract: In this paper, we investigated the knowledge modeling and proposed an ontology-based
descriptively-logic theory using fuzzy interval in order to support the management and re-usage of
the knowledge of design. We also established the methods to classify and present the concept-design
knowledge and developed an ontology-based model presenting the knowledge of design as well as a
model for modeling cycles. We further applied these methods and models to develop a specific
ontology-based design-knowledge model and At last the practicability and validity of these methods
are validated in the management system of design knowledge for the construction machinery.

Abstract: Based on the features of distributed knowledge resources environment and taking knowledge mobility in modern design as its supporting goal, this essay focuses on research into knowledge classification systems and representation models of product design. It proposes a six-dimension design knowledge classification system and a cubic knowledge representation model operating in an environment of distributed resources. The six dimensions of design knowledge classification are discipline, product, resource unit, application process, expression pattern, and design domain respectively. Accordingly, the six planes of the cubic knowledge representation model are, therefore, the discipline plane, expression pattern plane, resource unit plane, product plane, application process plane, and design domain plane, clearly represent the application profiles of design knowledge in six dimensions. The six-dimension design knowledge classification system and cubic model are applied to fluid simulation implicit knowledge (expert knowledge) as a real case, and are the basis upon which an application system of fluid emulation expert knowledge service is developed. The design knowledge classification system and representation model proposed in this essay are the theoretical foundations for knowledge flow model development in modern product design and the construction of knowledge management systems for modern design platforms.
