Abstract: Carbon fibers are usually used in the form of filaments since they are low in expandability and quickly wear and tear by bending. However now with the development of spinning technology, twisted carbon fiber yarns have been produced. In order to investigate the slashing and weaving properties of twisted carbon fiber yarns slashed by polyacrylate sizing agent at the room temperature, size picks up, tensile strength and abrasion resistance were introduced. Furthermore, a small piece of plain fabric was finished on the sample weaving machine. The results prove that slashing with polyacrylate sizing agent improves the slashing and weaving properties of twisted carbon fiber yarns significantly. Further, when the solid containing rate of polyacrylate slurry was around 5%, the size picks up can be up to 5.5%, the tensile strength increases by 19.8% and the wear resistance increases by 66.7%. Moreover, by using high-temperature water bath downsizing method, the sizing agent subsided frequently.

Abstract: The effect of atmospheric pressure dielectric barrier discharge plasma treatment on desizing polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) on polyester fabric was discussed as compared desizing with alkali through a combination of desizing rate, field scanning electron microscopy and strength test. The dyeing properties of polyester fabrics treated with atmospheric plasma have also been studied. The results show that plasma treatment can improve desizing rate, surface color depth and dye-uptake for polyester fabric.

Abstract: This paper describes the characteristics of enzymes and the principle for the desizing of cotton fabrics. Cotton fabric’s size removal efficiency is significant, after cold pile up by the enzyme treatment. The paper also discusses the process parameters: time and pH effect on the desizing, the optimum of cold pile up after desizing by the enzyme treatment to the cotton fabrics. Compared with traditional alkaline desizing process, the fabrics by the enzyme desizing have no injure, which is low cost and environmentally friendly. COD/BOD of the desizing wastewater are lower than the alkaline wastewater. The enzyme treatment desizing process is environmental friendly and energy-saving pre-treatment process. It is clean production process.

Abstract: We carried on the surface treatments to the cotton fabric (singed and hadn't been singed) with the low temperature plasma device. We studied the desizing performances, compared the capillaries. The results showed that after the same plasma treatment, the intensity of the singed hydrophilic was similar to those that hadn't been singed yet. We also explained the influence on hydrophilic, the results provide a scientific basis for the using of the pretreatment plasma technique in the future.

Abstract: The influence of He/O2 atmospheric pressure plasma jet (APPJ) treatment on subsequent wet desizing of polyarylate from PET fabrics was studied in present paper. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis showed an increased surface roughness after the plasma treatment. And SEM results also showed that the fiber surfaces were as clean as unsized fibers surfaces after 35s treatment followed by NaHCO3 desizing. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis indicated that oxygen-based functional groups increased for the plasma treated polyacrylate sized fabrics. The percent desizing ratio (PDR) results showed that more than 99% PDR was achieved after 65s plasma treatment followed by a 5min NaHCO3 desizing.

Abstract: The influence of He/O2 atmospheric pressure plasma jet (APPJ) treatment on subsequent wet desizing of polyarylate on PET fabrics was studied in present paper. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) and Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) showed an increased surface roughness after the plasma treatment. SEM also showed that the fiber surfaces were as clean as unsized fibers after 35 s treatment followed by NaHCO3 desizing. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis indicated that oxygen-based functional groups increased for the plasma treated polyacrylate sized fabrics. Compared to conventional wet desizing, plasma treatment could significantly reduce desizing time.
