Abstract: Concrete-filled FRP tube (CFFT) columns have recently gained significant research attention, with a number of experimental studies identifying significant benefits of using high-strength concrete (HSC) to produce high-performance CFFT columns. A recent experimental investigation revealed that prestressing the fibers in the fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) confining shell leads to significant improvements in the axial compressive behavior of HSC-CFFTs. This paper reports the findings from an analytical investigation into the lateral strain-to-axial strain relationship for prestressed HSC-CFFTs. This understanding of the lateral strain-to-axial strain relationship is of particular importance for prestressed CFFTs due to the influence of the additional lateral prestrain. Initially a database that consists of 23 aramid FRP- (AFRP) confined HSC cylindrical specimens with lateral prestress of up to 7.3 MPa is presented. Based on close examination of the experimentally recorded data, an expression to predict the lateral strain-to-axial strain relationship for prestressed HSC-CFFTs is proposed. The comparison of the proposed model predictions with the experimental test results for specimens prepared with prestressed FRP tubes shows good agreement.

Abstract: This paper introduces a real case from construction practice illustrating extensive damage to concrete slit drains, followed by the relevant computer simulation. From the computer simulation and lab tests it follows that the failures of concrete slit drains can be easily caused by deformations of the concrete slabs constituting the surrounding multi-layer road system. Thermally-induced expansions and contractions, as well as concrete shrinkage, produce, in non-dilating connection, stress in the link between the multi-layer road system and the lateral walls of the slit drains. The slit drains are highly sensitive even to a very small malfunction of the expansion joints (e.g. clogging of the slit by solid materials), or their bad installation. It is apparent that failures (cracks) in the slits arise even by the slight compression of a slit drain (to the order of tenths of a millimetre). The analysis presented shows the necessity for a careful installation of expansion joints during the placement of the slit drains into the surrounding multi-layer system, which could induce horizontal pressures on the drains. The study is concluded by recommendations for designers.

Abstract: With the development of information technology, the QR code technology in the application of information technology industry has become more and more widely, its action also is particularly important. In modern business activities, with the popularity of smart phones and all kinds of mobile intelligent device, which can realize the application is very extensive. But in practice, influenced by acquisition equipment, collections of images tend to have all kinds of noise, affect later decoding result. Late in order to decode the reliability and stability, based on the smart phone and mobile equipment acquisition have shadows and space of tilt of the QR code image as an example, discusses the gray, filtering, binaryzation, edge detection and image preprocessing technology such as geometric correction. Especially the closing operations in the application of morphology in image processing on the image to get rid of the shadow and corrosion expansion, extraction of the target area the edge of the straight line obtained very good effect, in addition to get rid of the shadow, the four control points using morphological expansion corrosion and correction of the QR code.

Abstract: In recent years, the strong evolution in automation, the significant advantage has been taken by ceramic industries. All production phases have been addressed through various technical innovations, with the exception of the final stage of the manufacturing process. Mostly, manufacturers have to apply artificial quality inspection at the final stage. It is labor intensive, slow and subjective. This paper proposed an approach of automatic quality inspection for ceramic product, system schematic and method are proposed, and it can easily implement in hardware system. Experiments in lab have been done to test the method.

Abstract: Base on the representation of the spatially-variant (SV) binary mathematical morphology operators, we develop a representation of the mathematical morphology on Boolean lattice through the automorphisms group and sup-generating family. Moreover, the spatially-variant (SV) Euclide mathematical morphology operators in the Boolean lattice case are unified.
