Abstract: In order to improve the accuracy of the selection on rock mechanical parameters, the relation between uniaxial compressive strength (UCS) and physical mechanical parameters should be investigated. A great number of physical and mechanical tests on rock in the first-stage of Guangxi Fangchenggang Nuclear Power Plant (GFNPP) are conducted. Mineral identification tests of rocks are conducted, and rocks are divided into two groups (A and B) according to the result of the test. The correlation coefficient between rock UCS and rock physical parameters (porosity, density and P-wave velocity) are calculated by using Pearson’s analytical method. The result shows that the relationship between physical parameters and mechanical parameters of rock is influenced significantly by content of quartz. Regression analysis method is used to explore the relation between UCS and porosity, density, P-wave velocity of rock; combined with the dimensional analysis, the relation between UCS and rock physical parameters was established. Based on normality test and randomness test, the best fitting equation is determined as the empirical equation of UCS. The empirical equation was used to forecast the UCS of rock in the second-stage of GFNPP, comparative results show that the forecasting value and the experimental value are in good agreement.

Abstract: Dimension analysis is one of the important methods to study physical problems. Dynamic response of cylinder shell under impact is a pervasive problem in engineering domain. The paper took a cylinder shell as an objective to study the main factors of influence on dynamic response of cylinder shell under impact. Using theorem we obtained several different equations for describing the dynamic response of cylinder shell under different similarity conditions. The relationship of dynamic response of dimensionless independent variables versus dependent variables for cylinder shell is set up in the end.

Abstract: The study on compressive strength of fiber reinforced polymer confined concrete was conducted in this paper. Firstly, the general confinement mechanics was revealed, in which the confinement stress-σl, the restraint stiffness-El and the ultimate confinement stress-fl were proposed. Secondly, the influences of various parameters on compressive strength were analyzed by recent related studies and numerical simulation. The numerical simulation was carried out through the total of 27 finite element models under axial compressive load which were constructed by using software-ANSYS. Finally, the compressive strength model was set up by the dimension analysis and numerical regression.

Abstract: Laser bending process of sheet metals is a highly flexible forming technique. Simulate model of laser bending process was established by dimension analysis, and the control model of laser bending was achieved with the regression of swatch datum. It was shown that dimension analysis was an effective method in simulating the complex laser bending process, and the control model, which came from non-dimension group datum, was a high-accuracy model in predictive analysis of bending angle.
