Abstract: When a simple structure collides with inclined barrier, behavior and deformation of the structure after impact are different in the case in which the structure slides on a contact surface or the case in which it does not slide. In order to investigate the structural collapse behavior for oblique collided structure, therefore, it is important to clarify the sliding behavior of the structure on the contact surface. The sliding behavior of the structure during collision was estimated according to theoretically obtained the equation considering the equilibrium of change in the momentum and the impulse before and after the collision. For evaluating the sliding behavior of the simple structure, the impact test by the drop type impact testing machine was carried out to collide with inclined barrier. In the impact test, the circular plate of 60 mm diameter and 10 mm thickness was used as the simple structure, and impacted with various collision velocities (range from 2 to 6 m/s). The sliding behavior of the simple structure at the collided surface was observed by high speed camera, and evaluated by the image analysis. The theoretical result was compared to evaluate with experimental results.

Abstract: As to the pavement test, with the slip-based control method, a new pavement mobile type of measuring device was designed to obtain the continuous friction coefficient parameters in this paper. The operation principles and the concrete completion methods of slip ratio control were introduced in detail. 89C52 was adopted as the center chip to achieve the system design of hardware and software. After the pavement tests, the prototype is of high reliability, low cost, and simple operation, meanwhile, meets the requirements of pavement skid resistance.

Abstract: In general, dynamic friction coefficient in a dry surface condition is dependent on the relative velocity between two sliding bodies. A conventional method of estimating the velocity dependent dynamic friction coefficient is time consuming and requires a special jig to measure the friction forces. In this paper, a new technique called the state space mapping method is proposed based on the nonlinear dynamics of a 1-DOF friction oscillator. One body is constructed as a single degree of freedom system and another body is formed as a moving base that may be built as a rotating disk or a horizontally oscillating plate. The resulting friction induced vibration system is used to estimate the dynamic friction coefficient. The measured vibration signals are utilized to construct a three dimensional plot of acceleration versus state variables. Then, the velocity dependent dynamic friction coefficient can be estimated from the plot. The natural frequency can also be estimated from the plot, which can be used to verify the quality of the results.
