Abstract: One of the significant problems to be solved is the availability of clean water for public consumption. As the population increases, the clean water needs will also increase. Some areas are at risk of shortages of clean water. One of them is in coastal areas. One of the methods used is to convert seawater into freshwater to provide clean water in coastal areas. With the distillation process, water can be separated from salt. In this research, the heat source used is induction electrical energy. The induction heater is chosen because of its efficiency. A method to change seawater into pure water is to boil the seawater. In this research, the level of electricity power is 600 W, 800 W and 1000 W. The airspeed over the condenser was varied in three level of speed. The result shows that the highest freshwater product is at 1000 W at level 1 airspeed with freshwater product is 632 grams. The most effective result is at 900 W induction heater with power consumption of 1.295 W/g.

Abstract: Among ocean energy, wave energy is one of the energy which has not been utilized optimally. As Indonesia has the longest coastline in the world, the development of OWEH is very important. In this paper, an experimental study and analysis of the generated electric power of Salter Duck type OWEH due to additional weight change and wave amplitude was carried out. Salter Duck is geometrically similar to the duck beak invented by Stephen Salter. The incoming wave toward the nodding duck area will move the beak up and down. This up-down motion is used to rotate the gear transmission system and electric generator. In this research, various additional weight was mounted on the Salter Duck beak and its influence to the generated power was studied at various wave amplitude. The experimental results show that additional weight of 300gr and wave amplitude of 0.028m to the model of OWEH can produce maximum electric power of 19.01mWatt with maximum angular acceleration of 0.0427rad/s2. Efficiency of the Salter Duck prototype is 56%.

Abstract: The study is devoted to the issues of power price differentials for different groups of consumers. The factors have been identified to make a choice of the consumers’ groups in whose favour energy cost could be reduced. The set of the factors varies with regard to the government’s objectives: protection of vulnerable social consumers’ groups, or encouragement of economic growth through industrial development. The relation between the energy cost quoted for different consumers’ groups and national measures has been supported by statistical analysis.

Abstract: The risk of flooding in urban environment has become more and more frequent due to the increased impervious surfaces and climate change. The most suitable solutions for mitigating the urban flooding risks are stormwater detention tanks which temporarily store the exceeded rainfall and gradually release it into the urban drainage system at the end of the rainfall events. The present study aims to evaluate the feasibility of stormwater detention tanks used also for producing hydroelectric power serving a small town, through the release of such volumes. The study is applied to an urban watershed in the city of Cosenza, Italy. After a preliminary design, a hydrologic/hydraulic model, SWMM, coupled with a numerical model implemented in MATLAB was used to predict the stormwater volumes reusable for the production of electricity and the overall response of the system on annual basis. The results obtained showed that a mini-hydro system in an urban area is technically feasible. From an economic point of view, the system is self-sustainable only if one considers the need to integrate the urban drainage network with the electric power grid using the stormwater volumes to store energy in hours of maximum electric energy production that otherwise would be lost.

Abstract: In this paper, with the development of Information technology, application service between IT and traditional industry has been on the rise. And there are many on-going discussions actively regarding the Air quality system based on wireless sensor network which monitors and control the industrial environment automatically and manually with the application service of detecting harmful gas. In this thesis, operation program constitute the administrator monitoring device, which collects data from sensor node of wireless sensor network and sensor node and transmits environment information to display and server. Also for remote monitoring, user operation program constitutes based on PC/Smartphone Under this, the harmful gas which is made in daily life is measured. Real time monitoring system based on wireless sensor network is designed and realized.

Abstract: Nowadays, various test equipment tend to be more intelligent, the test equipment of the volt-ampere characteristic of CT is so too. As the development of the electronics, VLSI(SCM) is manufactured. The purpose of our project is to scheme out a intelligent test system by the computer technique and the test technique. This equipment is mostly made of the SCM system and the peripheral equipment. We control the output of the digital transformer by SCM. The output voltage can make the TL494 create PWM wave. The wave is the control signal of the main circuit. The output wave of the main circuit is the sine wave, and the value of the output can be amended automatically. Compared with the traditional equipment, this equipment is smaller and use less energy, but its function is more powerful. It can be programmable. We can take it more expediently. So, this kind of equipment can be used widely in the future.

Abstract: Recently, many countries have been pushing for a higher share of renewable energy sources, especially wind, in their generation mix. However, the intermittent and uncertain nature of wind power imposes a limit on the extent it can replace the conventional generation resources. In a high wind penetration scenario, the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) offers a solution to the grid operation problems. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the merits of price-based operation of BESS in a real-time market with high wind penetration using frequency-linked pricing. The authors propose a real-time market in which real-time prices are based on the grid frequency. A model for real-time price-based operation of a conventional generator and a BESS is presented. Simulations for different wind penetration scenarios are carried out on an isolated area test system. Wind speed sequence is generated using composite wind speed model. A simplified model of wind speed to power conversion is adopted to observe the impact of increase in wind power generation on the grid frequency and the real-time prices.

Abstract: Gripper is mechanism that mounted on the end of the robot arm and used to hold an object and move it to a certain position. Generally, classical gripper is equipped with the driving motor (electric, pneumatic, fluid power) to move the gripper mechanism. In this research, the function of driving motor replaced with gripper motor actuators made of Shape Memory Alloys (SMA) of Nickel Titanium (NiTi) wire type SM495. Problem studied is response of grip force of gripper to varied electrics power input that given to the actuator of gripper made of NiTi SM495 wire. This is a real experimental research using parameters electrical power input which is obtained by varying the applied electric voltage 3, 6, 9, 12 Volt and constant electric current 5 A. Linear springs with various springs constants of 0.14 N/mm; 0.49 N/mm; 0.981 N/mm; 1.308 N /mm were used for measuring grip force of gripper. The obtained data then analyzed using statistics (analysis of variance). The results showed that the electrical power which given to the NiTi based actuator significantly influenced the grip force of gripper. Abstract: This paper is focused on problems of power network equilibrium model construction and corresponding emission trading policy. Based on super network theory, we establish a supply chain network for power market with three levels of decision makers, which are power plants, power suppliers and demand markets. We establish the finite-dimensional variational inequality formulation, then, derive the competition equilibrium conditions and optimality conditions. We assume that there are several types of power plants, and the initial license are allocated freely to all power plants. We find that the total amount of pollution will not exceed the total amount of emission permits.

Abstract: The prepaid meter was introduced in Nigeria to aid revenue collection and generation by Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) in 2006 as well as abolished meter reading and estimated billing. Since its introduction there are still some challenges being faced by consumers and the power network operator. In this paper, we examined the Nigeria power sector, prepayment meter, advantages and disadvantages of the prepaid meter and smart meter in Nigeria. Finally, we make some recommendations.
