Abstract: The article deals with the assessment problems of especially essential structures. Increased demands on prevention of emergency situations and minimizing the consequences in the event of their occurrence require constant determination of especially essential structures condition. Achieving the goal of reliability and continuity of information is possible by coating the structure surface by a layer of electroconductive concrete, working as a monitoring system sensor. The study of the electrical properties of concrete was performed using the voltmeter – ammeter scheme. After the measurements had been made, the conditional electrical resistance of the electrode pair was calculated. The analysis of the above dependencies found that the change in the electrical resistance of the material from its stress approaches the linear law at lower values of W/C over a larger section of the studied interval. Processing of the obtained data showed that the measurement results were significantly affected by the shape and size of the electrodes used during the experiments.

Abstract: Effect of equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) at room temperature and subsequent annealing at temperatures ranging from 450 to 600°C on microstructure, mechanical properties and electric conductivity of an Al-8%Ce alloy was examined It was shown that Al4Ce-type eutectic particles having plate-like shape break under ECAP; distribution of the particles appears to be more homogeneous. ECAP leads to about two-fold increase in yield stress (YS) and ultimate tensile strength (UTS); ductility and electric conductivity decrease significantly. Under following annealing, the spheroidizing and coagulation of Al4Ce-type particles occur extensively resulting in decreased strength and increased electric conductivity and ductility.

Abstract: In the Waterworks Bureau, the activated carbon has been used for filtering water. After the life service of activated carbon, it is normally disposed. This work focuses on the processing of a composite material in order to recycle these wasted carbon particles. These activated carbons were used for the filler of composite materials, and a composite with carbon contents of 10% ~ 60% was manufactured and characterized. They exhibited electroconductive behavior because of the carbon particles used as fillers. The electroconductivity have an intimate relationship with the strain of the material. However, because of the composite viscoelasticity, the electroconductivity presented changes by their stress relaxation behavior with the same strain. In this study, it was revealed the relationship between the viscoelasticity and the electroconductivity of recycled activated carbon composites.
