Abstract: The article deals with the role and importance of supervision in the Czech construction industry. It accentuates its role in public procurement and provides a comprehensive view of its activities. The article also clarifies the function, content and duties of supervision with regard to concrete structures or the importance of supervision of the construction life cycle.Currently, during the time the Czech construction industry is almost at the peak of its staff and material capacities, the main topic between the Employer and the Contractor is the ratio of quality and price of construction. This ratio can never be determined exactly, but it can be checked and monitored during the actual course of construction. Among other things, the position of technical supervision is included between these two entities. Emphasis should be placed on independence, technical expertise and competence in the performance of supervision. If these requirements are to be fulfilled, it is mainly external supervision, i.e. supervision by external persons (legal entity).

Abstract: The paper deals with an operation of Italian engineers in Central African Republic (CAR). The aim of the operation was to construct the temporary bridge. This operation was supported by 15th Engineering Regiment and the University of Defence. Two soldiers from the 15th Engineering Regiment were sent to CAR to help Italian engineers. During this operation REACH-BACK concept between University of Defence and 15th Engineer Regiment was used. Communication and cooperation between these units was supported by Information Portal of Engineer Corps. The portal works as a support element for REACH-BACK concept.

Abstract: Traditionally the design phase was carried out by one single person – the master builder. Industrialization and technical development led to a split of the role of the design master into two: the architect and the engineer. Today, demands on functionality such as energy and cost efficiency led to an increasing need of functioning collaboration in large teams during the design phase; as well as a need of new work methods within the process. This calls for employees who are experienced in collaborating in interdisciplinary teams. To fulfill this demand a multidisciplinary course in “Advanced building design” has been developed at the Technical University of Denmark. The goal of the course is to provide training in teamwork at the final stage of the engineering education. The course has been carried out twice. It was held by a multidisciplinary team of professors in periods 2008/09 and 2009/10. The team of professors and the student teams had similar working conditions. These teams were subject of a questionnaire investigation on collaboration and team work. The study has the following findings. Collaboration can be learned and improves in time. It is shown that the team leader is not necessarily to be found within on specific profession. The team-structure was generally flat and decisions were mostly made in consensus. It is worthwhile to offer a multidisciplinary course and give engineering students experience in collaboration methods.

Abstract: . With the rapid development of scientific technology, the current skills and knowledge has become more and more important. Engineering technical personnel need long-life learning to improve them for competitiveness. Therefore, long-life learning should be enhanced in engineering education. This paper explains the meaning of long-life learning, analyzes the reasons long-life learning being enhanced in engineering education, the influence on engineering education and engineering technical. Some suggestions about enhancing long-life learning in engineering education and keeping good habits of long-life learning are also put forward.
