Abstract: Materials engineering involves knowledge of the fundamental physics, chemistry and engineering of materials in order to elaborate, develop, and use materials with superior and new properties. The research, development and applications of materials are the major reasons behind the availability, cost reduction, innovations and improvements in all the fields of industry. Master's programs are designed to give you a solid (strong) education in the materials engineering field. Students entering a Master program have already earned a bachelor's degree and have solid acquirement of engineering. The program entails coursework, examinations and an internship or other applied experience. A master report is required to obtain the masters degree based on the researches during the stage. During a Master programme the students learn to approach complex issues from the perspective of different disciplines such as: characterisation of materials, thermodynamics, structurals transformations, technology of materials, properties of surfaces or initiation on research methods. By understanding the properties of materials, materials engineers create new materials with desired properties. Students entering a Ph.D. program have already earned a a masters degree in the field of „Materials engineering". Because of the nature of specialization the Ph.D. program tends to be smaller than master program. The international orientation of the practice stage approaches to of the Erasmus mobilites. A Ph.D. typically demonstrates a person's competence in research. Ph.D. students begin by taking courses and exams, go on to taking advanced seminars and preparing dissertation research. To complete their knowledges, they are continuing by researching, writing and completeing a dissertation thesis. The doctoral-level thesis, is the culmination of a Ph.D. candidate's research into a topic and is the major requirement of earning the doctorate. A doctoral degree is obviously a more advanced degree. However, it is long. Depending on the program, a PhD could take 4-8 years to complete. A PhD programs entails 3 years of coursework and a dissertation. During this these years the independent researchs projects are designed to cover new knowledge in your field and to be of publishable quality. Doctoral study offers the unique opportunity for an individual to develope intensive and prolonged research on a particular topic, which often leads to publication. The present paper presents the association of Romanian and French university teachers to educate students to prepare a Master diploma and to continue with cotutelle doctoral studies in the field of materials engineering.

Abstract: The objective of the paper is to present and compare the results of several international projects and to identify pedagogical and project success elements. The generic projects are few examples that had in common the several objectives: to identify the training needs; to develop an evaluation tool to transform actual and current training offered by corporate /occupational further training institutes ; to improve quality of education to meet the needs of working life. In projects, the training needs were identified involving universities, educational institutions, training and consulting companies from countries across Europe. The selection of the study cases is not random. The intent is to emphasis the consequences-by using similar approach-into distinct project methodologies: one is promoted largely by sponsors from US; the other three are according to the EU rules, regulations, and procedures.

Abstract: With the every ambitious expanding Strategy 2020 of the European Union, to become the most competitive region globally, generates the urgent need to handle multinational (across national) EU and non EU groups in terms of joint training activities. This paper tries to build a bridge between traditional research in terms of national cultures, primarily between the Hofstede and Trompenaars& Hampden-Turner theory buildings and applied methodology. The applied research tackles some first steps in terms of how this traditional research could be applied in education for engineering and business and economics. Thereby showing opportunities to bring a better learning outcome by avoiding cultural "failures" made obvious by this research. The theoretical framework applies into planning phase, delivery phase and follow up phase of the pedagogical cycle.

Abstract: In the corporate world, organizations that have efficient managements, conquer markets and establish themselves for a long period of time. Companies that produce through continuous processes have a guaranteed market for their products, as is the case of the sustainable fuels area; they should lose no time in the production. This research aims to improve the use of milling of a plant that produces ethanol through sugarcane, using the junction of the Quality Tools with the PDCA Cycle. The research sought to improve the main problems identified as the cause of milling yield utilization below the target of a company. After the implementation of the improvements it was possible to make a comparison between the yields before and after the improvements, showing positive results.

Abstract: Today’s engineering demands the collaboration of various specialists in order to provide quality excellence and meet time constraints within engineering projects. Even though mechatronic engineering methodologies display handy instruments (e. g. VDI 2206), they are not sufficiently supported by digital engineering tools. Digital engineering tools are rather characterized based on its discipline-specific functions and omit a holistic mechatronic thinking. On this account, the paper introduces a reference model for mechatronic engineering tools. Thereby, the model boundary bases on mechatronic principles and concepts (e. g. the mechatronic principle of interdisciplinary collaboration and the concept of interdisciplinary knowledge provision). The model is structured into three reference perspectives: Process, application and artifact. While the reference perspective process claims the requirements of mechatronic engineering processes, the reference perspective application represents the interaction with mechatronic developers and the reference perspective artifact forms the digital representation of mechatronic production systems. Being designed deductively, industry-based expert interviews and workshops ensure feasibility of the paper’s approach. Finally, the potential for integration in current software maturity models and the company-specific scaling of engineering tools is mentioned as part of the application’s scope.

Abstract: This paper explores the concept of sustainability in engineering systems and proposes a smart conceptual framework for engineering organization development. Sustainability is a critically complex goal for enterprise activity and development. Sustainability in the engineering area requires a comprehensive and continue approach because, a) engineering activities are ubiquitous in society, b) of the high importance of engineering applications in the development of the companies and of the world, and c) technological support becomes imminent in a dynamic economic environment and sustained in large part by technological advances. This paper aims to provide to the engineering environment a smart conceptual framework that establishes links between engineering processes and the concept of sustainable development. The smart conceptual framework combines basic principles of sustainability with the requirements of engineering systems.

Abstract: The engineering ideas, which reflect value pursuits of engineering practitioners, are overall, principled, programmatic requirements for engineering. From the function aspect, the engineering ideas are the fundamental guiding ideology as well as essential principles for engineering practices. Based on the predecessors' achievements, this paper presents that the core ideas of modern engineering can be summarized to have following attributes: people-oriented, resource saving, and environmental friendly. Furthermore, the relevant explanations and demonstrations to each point are incorporated.

Abstract: Sea water utilization projects are catching attention as the seawater utilization industry continues to grow. This paper analyzes the marine environment impact from different kind of sea water utilization projects such as seawater desalination, direct seawater utilization and seawater chemical resource extraction, and brieflypresents relevant countermeasures.

Abstract: A new practical application for teaching mechanism calibration to engineering students in senior undergraduate courses is presented in this paper. The modelling, characterization and calibration of kinematic mechanisms is performed. This application presents a special interest in kinematic mechanisms in areas such as industry and research. The application interface allows the students to carry out the different steps of the calibration procedure in an easy way, to change different variables and to analyze results. This application therefore presents an important utility as a teaching tool for the learning process and analysis of the different steps in the mechanism optimization. The application developed allows students: to design their own mechanisms and to analyze the mechanism workspace by changing some design parameters, to test accuracy and repeatability of mechanism components, to introduce the mechanism kinematic model, to evaluate the mechanism performance before calibration, to calibrate the mechanism and, finally, to analyze the improvement in the system accuracy.
